Got a call from a friend of mine a few minutes ago. Said he just found a 1950 Indian in the back of a garage by a house he just bought. Said it's 99% there. He also said if I come and get it tomorrow I can have it for $500.00. Well ya, see ya in the morning!

"in the back of a garage by a house he just bought"?

Is it in the garage of the house he bought?

Big difference!

In a detached garage next to the house he just bought. It was covered up under an old tarp and a pile of news papers. 1950 Indian Scout is what it's supposed to be.

I haven't even seen it! Supposed to get more info today and a time I can see it. Just waiting to hear from the guy that asked me if I would be interested in the bike. If this is all true (?) Who wouldn't be?

"IF" this turns out to be real I will let y'all know when I get it home.

I wouldn't have been able to sleep.
I also would have kept him away from the computer so he cant look at values.
I also wouldn't let him watch pickers.

I wouldn't give him time to think about it or talk to some other friends. He just may change his mind. That monster would have been in my garage within the hour.

Here's a 1949 Indian Scout for sale... http://www.classicmotorcycleconsignments.com/motorcycles/1949-indian-scout
You might have to do some work on that bike before you get in this price range, but the potential is there!

This one has a more friendly price tag http://www.classicmotorcycleconsignments.com/motorcycles/1949-indian-scout-super-sport-249-twin-motorcycle, but still a long way from 500 bucks! Smiley

Just got back home from out west. The guy that has the Indian (?) was uneducated in bikes. It was a freakin "clone"  made out of an old Yamaha. I could have told him it wasn't what he thought it was 50 yds away. I was disappointed to say the least when he uncovered it. He was to when I told him what it really was.

Someone put a lot of time, effort and money into the build. But it wasn't an Indian. He offered it to me for the same $500.00. I declined,  I already have 3 bikes don't  need a 4th unless it was the real deal. This sounded too good to be true and it was.

My hopes of having a great winter project have gone by the wayside. I'm really more than disappointed.
