'98 Valkyrie Standard - 92,000 miles
Motor running as good as the day I bought it with 1,000 miles on it.  On my way home doing about 60 - 65 mph - all of a sudden I am blowing serious smoke, I mean fogging the highway.  Stopped, then decided to ease on home - checked it had about half the oil left in it.  On the way home, it stopped smoking for about 4 or 5 miles - started again - then quit a couple of miles from home.  Took it to the local Honda shop and asked them to check it out, young man cranked it up to take it inside - not smoking.  Maybe unrelated, but when I cranked it and put it in gear wanted to pull forward even with clutch lever all the way in.  Any thoughts on this.

Sounds like you have rivits blocking the return screen in the clutch galley,Sounds like a clutch pack and dampner are in order.

or the over flow needs to be cleaned out, or your air filter is clogged..the clogged air filter will cause the pcv valve to suck oil. the engine needs air to run and if it cant get it through the filter it will try to suck it through the pcv system

Pull your air filter and I bet  you will find a bucket of oil in the breaker box.

Sheared clutch plate rivets as 3W-Lonerider stated.

Thanks, for the replies - think you are right on the clutch and the smoke.  Sincerely hope so.  Have a VTX 1800, which is a good bike -  but I  put 90,000+ miles on my Valkyrie and still enjoy riding it, so with a new clutch and some cleaning hope to put a few more thousand on it.

Pull the plugs and look at em. See if they "all" look the same? If they do and all are cruded up the problem is in the entire system. If maybe only one is looking kinda foul there is a possibility ring groves may have lined up?? I've seen it happen b4. Or, a broKen ring?? If you find a suspect cylinder, take a compression reading on that cylinder. Might pay to ck all the cylinders (compression) before you go evil on the rest of it.
