I talked with him a couple years ago but lost the number. I believe he has since become less cognizant of his surroundings due to Alzheimer's. I had talked to his wife at one time and she filled me in on his condition. It's hard to imagine the robust well built guy I once used to hang with fishing, riding, etc., as now not knowing who you are. He had trouble with his eyes, they were damaged in a fire on board ship while in the Navy. He had other injuries as well received in attempts to save fellow crewmen, some of which he carried up ladders. It was the fire aboard the USS Oriskany carrier in 1966, my friend Ron had some heart rendering tales to tell of that day.

Anyhow....I have been doing some cleaning out, reorgnazing, and tossing of stuff in the garage and ran across something of theirs and would like to send it to them. Can someone give me a method of looking up a person's address or phone, preferably not one you have to pay to use. If it's effective, I might even try to find my older brother or at least find out if he's still alive. He and I were put up for adoption at age 2 & 3.

And, FWIW...the item I want to return to my old friend or his wife is a small pocket size New Testament with what appears to be a hand carved wood binder. My girls were good buddies of his kids and I can only assume that's how it ended up in our stuff. Although worn with age, the wood still has a beautiful sheen to it. Sure brings back some memories for me, going back nearly 50 years.

When I'm trying to find someone, I start by googling their name and town.  That leads to many other sites, many of which are useless, but some useful.

+1 on the zabasearch. Many of the other supposedly free sites lead you to links that want your money. White pages sometimes does that to me.

Some of the pay sites will let you do a pay by search or by the month...and the rates aren't too bad. I'm not sure how thorough they are but they claim to look into lots of info...foreclosures, tax liens, arrest records, real estate transactions, etc.  A lot of the free sites will list an age for the person you're searching....and even relatives, which helps tremendously, if you know either.

OK, think I found him, Bakersville, NC. He has an unusual name: Romey(Ron) Adlue Rose, everyone just called him Ron. Now to pin down a phone number.

Oooooo.....pant, pant, pant!  2funny  I'd love to send something like that to a good friend of mine. Probably wouldn't be a "good" friend for long.  2funny

I tried the 2915 #  but no answer, will try later this evening. The one ending in 6748 was out of service.
