Disnt there used to bea piece of chrome that went on the front side of the lower triple tree ?  
I would love to locate one for my ride ....

Rattle Bars had a piece that was polished aluminum that fit between the fork tubes just below the triple tree. If I remember correctly, he called it "Fork Filler". It hid the view of the front brake lines and other stuff tucked under there. I had one on my Valk, made a nice addition.

Another option is to polish it. Best done with the wheel and fender removed. Mask off all areas around it and spray with oven cleaner. Wait 10 minutes and wash off. Sand with 600 wet/dry paper (use wet). Then use 1000 paper. Finish with Mothers aluminum polish and a powerball in a drill motor. Comes up like chrome.
