A little history; my wife loved AOL and used it for a long time. She found it simple to use and only used it for staying in touch with family and friends. Due to health issues, she can no longer use a computer so I'm moving on from AOL for a couple reasons; first....other browsers are much better and I use them all the time. Second....they're supposedly upgrading their system and going to start charging $4.99/month for it. Not from me they aren't. But here's the rub, I have a rather lengthy list of favorites on the old AOL system that I'd like to download or transfer to another browser. I've tried searching for instructions and get nowhere....either didn't work or too confusing(old dog, new tricks syndrome probably).

Can someone tell me how to access my AOL favorites file so I can save it to the hard drive then possibly transfer it to either IE or Chrome....or both. I use both, and am slowly converting my email to Gmail by notifying various people and businesses of the change from AOL. I tried calling AOL about how to save the  favorites file. That was a joke, I got some little missy with such an oriental accent I couldn't understand a word she said. When I asked for somebody that spoke english she got huffy and said "I do speaka englis." Yeah honey, you sure do!!!!  Tried calling back, same problem, different accent with the same results so I gave up.

Very good question John.  And I don't know the answer.   crazy2

When I left VA, I had a thousand favorites saved for research purposes (some were even work related).

I called our computer weenies, and they made me a disk with them on there.

It's absolutely doable.  Serk or Mike or some other computer dude will come on and explain the magic.  Grin

John,
Did a 'Google' and found this. Hope it helps. I'm not familiar with AOL but this should help?

At this point I'm sorta frustrated, I have been able to save the favorites to a file separate from AOL but they're in a file with a PFC extension. That happens to be a format AOL uses and normal viewing methods won't open it with that extension. Any suggestions?

If I had just a handful of favorites, I'd simply "copy/paste" them individually. But me being a hoarder.....  Grin

I have no clue about aol. Could you cut  and paste them into an email or 2 or 3 and send them to yourself?

I did a PFC file conversion, and a lot came up. Old, and some info does come up. But I think you are the best one to try them.

I recently purchased a new desktop computer and went through the exercise of saving files to a external drive and a thumb drive. I copied (don't recall if it was copy/past or "copy - send to") all the bookmarks/favorites and saved to a Word document and saved it to the thumb drive and the external drive. open the Word document and all the links are active and click-able. A work-around for a low-non-tech duffer.
