Well I made it home last night. 5914 miles round trip.  Bike ran excellent!  No troubles along the way.
We did all the tourist stuff, Yellowstone, Beartooth pass, Devils monument, Crazy horse, and Rushmore.  And a slew of other less known National attractions.
It was rough at times, my bottom got sore after 15 days in the saddle to say the least.  But it was oh so worth it.
I made a new friend in Dwayne Gibson from the 1500 group.  We had a great riding experience.  And it is so much more enjoyable to have someone to talk to over lunches and dinners.  And not have to worry about breaking down in the middle of nowhere, alone.
And I of course won the Inzane award for riding the furthest @ 2750 miles to the meeting.
Ok so who is ready to go on a trip?

Wow, was that great timing or what? I figured you weren't too far out. Nice that all went well after almost 6k miles, quite a feat!  :o Really glad someone caught up with you to make that trip more enjoyable for sure, way to go Dwayne! My neighbor Bill and I are looking at sometime in late Sept or Oct to make a trip somewhere, I'll keep you posted. Oh, Welcome Home.....  :coolsmiley:

Welcome home.  Our trip of 6454 miles in the truck pulling the RV was nothing compared to your doing it on the bike.  Glad all went well.  We brought home a rock from Crazyhorse for a donation.  Did you pick one up?

Firefight100

No rocks for me.  I was loaded as it was and tried not to purchase anything I would have to carry home.

It is my first Valk but not my first bike by any  means.  I just sold my 2008 Buell Ulysses the day before I left for this trip.  And I still have a Husqvarna 610te 2008 to do rougher exploring on.
I quit riding around 1980 and got back on in 2008 in a big time.

Hey Larry, totally agree w/u.  It was great riding w/u on this ride, really glad we met up with one another!!  I too had a little saddle sore behind.  Got home about 8:00 7-3.  Glad you made it home alright.  Look forward to seeing some of your pics, you probably got some I didn't.  We just might have to team up again sometime.

So I thought I would do a cost analysis for the trip to Billing Mt from Malabar Fl.
We were on the road for 16 days.  2 days were spent with family so no hotel room needed and the last day I slept in the park so no hotel that night either.
Total spent was...

$324 for gas, 5914 miles, $2.30 avg a gallon = 42 mpg.  We mostly traveled 75 to 82 mph

$238 for food.  Avg to $17. a day for food and drink

$556 for hotels  avg $43 a night for the hotel.  This seems low so maybe I am missing a receipt?

But all in all, a cheap inexpensive way to see the USA.  And you meet the Nicest people on a Honda.

TNRACER

How about $445. On Billings motel !!  :2funny: : :cooldude: Almost rested ....you ready to take off again yet?
