Can someone enlighten me? It's a 2300 mile trip one way for me, about 2000 miles too much for a weekend run so I'm trying to spot some of the points of interest via Google Earth. What is the ground zero hotel, I'd at least like to see what it looks like via Google.

Got it, thanks Kevin, I hope you're joking about the "secret" thing.  cooldude

I'd love to see a Google Earth shot of the parking lot full of bikes, maybe Serk will have his unit up and running and will post some pics taken from an elevated perspective. It kills me to not be able to attend every IZ, but life doesn't always work out the way we'd like.

The drone is packed up and will be coming up with the spousal unit in the cage, I have every intention of trying to get a shot just like that one...

Wish you were able to make it, you were one of the folks I wanted to finally get to meet, but, in the words of John Lennon, "Life is what happens to us while we were busy making other plans..."

Serk, one day maybe. I have a lot of good friends met at IZ over the years, always open to meeting new ones. Especially those I've chatted with on here, kinda nice to put a face to a name. For instance....take Old2Soon and his brother da Prez.....PLEASE!   2funny 2funny  Finally met them in Ashville, had a good time with them. Met a number of others, too many to list or remember but always special. Also have a number of folks from north of the border that I've met over the years, would love to cross paths again.

As they say in sports...."wait until next year."  Trouble with that is we reach a point in life where we don't have too many "next years" left. Still hoping for 2018.  cooldude

Well, registrants weren't supposed to reveal the location, thus preventing people from getting rooms without the VRCC getting their registration fees.  Also, VRCC wouldn't get the credit for bringing those guests to the hotel.  I don't know if there was/is a time when the location was/will be made public to all.

So, who does one bribe to get the Google-hired satellites in the right place at the right time to take InZane pictures?

Actually the reason is so people don't book up the hotel "in case" they decide to go.  This was done by many in the early years and GZ would fill quickly, preventing attendees from getting rooms at GZ.  Then the hotel would get a flood of cancellations at the last minute... and we were on the hook, because we make commitments to secure the hotel.

GZ info has been public since our room block expired.

Connie, now that you mention it I was aware of that situation, guess I forgot. As I often do with some of DDT's travels, I follow along via Google Earth so was merely wanting to see what the facility looked like in Billings. As for it being public knowledge, I looked but didn't spot it so got lazy and simply asked. Hope all have a safe trip and a great time together, and to say I'm jealous would be an understatement.  cooldude

Here's hoping you folks move a little farther east next year.  Wink

Oh well, it was not important. Just thought it was kinda wierd that the hotel is now public knowledge and a google earth view of the place got deleted. It may have even been the wrong hotel  uglystupid2 maybe one day I'll make another Inzane. My vacation time this year is going to take the family to Disney World in September.  Next uear I'll have another week of vacation and I plan to use it accordingly.   cooldude
