A few years ago, I was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease, which results in my lungs slowly turning into scar tissue.

As a result, I applied for (and after much hassle and red tape) received total and permanent disability through both the Social Security Administration and the Veterans Administration.

My original plan was to buy a touring bike and travel across America, seeing the sights and visiting with old friends and family. Before I was even approved for disability, my condition worsened to where I need oxygen at night (portable oxygen concentration machine for the win), so a motorcycle for long distance travel became a pipedream. Instead, I bought a new car for traveling and a used valk for local and short distance fun.

I've already taken a few trips (Route 66, New England in the Fall, and Washington DC and NYC this past spring, to include DC during the Cherry Blossom Festival) and am preparing to embark on my next trip, covering the northern Great Plains.

I set up a blog to document my travels, and if anyone wants to follow along (or occasionally stop by to browse), you are more than welcome to do so. Comments are welcome, although I have to approve them prior to being posted, since my 9 year old great nephew reads my blog.

The blog is located at:  www.ramblingcynic.com

My brother and his wife, both retired school teachers,  at age 62 sold there house and bought one of those big fancy motor homes and hit the road. Been out there for about 6-7 years now just stop home every now and then to pick up some mail and check family. They post a lot of pictures of where they are or been. I'll check  yours out and travel along.

C,
suggest u read up on
http://www.systemicenzymes.net/

Enzymes eat scar tissue and fibrosis. (7). Fibrosis is scar tissue and most doctors learn in anatomy that it is fibrosis that eventually kills us all. Let me explain. As we age, which starts at 27, we have a diminishing of the bodies’ output of enzymes. This is because we make a finite amount of enzymes in a lifetime and we use up a good deal of them by the time we are 27. At that point the body knows that if it keeps up that rate of consumption we’ll run out of enzymes and be dead by the time we reach our 40’s. (Cystic Fibrosis patients who have virtually no enzyme production to speak of, even as children usually don’t make it past their 20’s before they die of the restriction and shrinkage in the lungs from the formation of fibrosis or scar tissue).

they have been used over in europe for over 45 yrs with great success.

Sorry that I missed you when you did NY as you would probably have enjoyed the Hudson Valley.

I work a mile from where you visited Mt Vernon   Did you eat at one of the irish bars on McLean Avenue? If not you need to go back for corned beef and cabbage on thursdays

Thanks for posting the blog and pics, good stuff
