I've reached the point on the old GL1200 where I can sell off some of the stuff I don't need to finish it. Recently I sold the tail light....no bracket(totally rusted through), just the light itself. When the buyer got it he marveled as its condition, so I sent him the following message below. At present, I have the side covers and the modified rear fender at the painter, will be taking the adapted '99 Valkyrie black/silver tank up so he can match the silver for some accents on the side covers. The rear fender is just a trailer fender via Northern Tool which I bobbed and mounted to move with the swingarm. Had to weld some support arm mounts for that but works well and looks good. Still need the seat upholstered and finish off the rear of the frame where I cut it off. And just remembered....mount the horn(s), might just get a little air horn from Harbor Freight.

My message to the tail light buyer:
Rather amusing anecdote....that tail light was the best piece of equipment on the entire bike, a basket case when I picked it up. Everything else had to either be rebuilt or replaced with new OEM....except for that light. Even the frame had to be stripped and repaired with a couple patches welded into place before painting. The PO had also done some "engineering" on the wiring harness which had to be corrected. The fenders were shot, gauges worked but looked bad, seat was shot, tank rusted through, front wheel wouldn't turn & back bearings growled. But through it all, that tail light was near perfect. I literally sat in my garage and laughed about it....the fact that one item on the entire bike could be reused with nothing more than a cleanup.

Ask Ross for pictures of the green and silver I/S he just got out of Iowa. I'd be interested in the truck stacks on the one he just got-cept fer da rust1  Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.

Or....back when we used to say it's time to empty the ash trays by replacing them with new ones. New ones only came in new cars.  Wink
