OK I can call, or send text and picture, or g- mail which I don't use, or E-mail which I use, and have kinda got on Facebook . Now a friend wants me to get on Messenger and I feel its trying to sucker me into saying hi to some of my friends so that they have to get on messenger to see that I only said hi, which to me is a sucker punch and giving me more dribble to learn that I don't need. Is it worth it?  I'm not one that plays with the damn phone all day, I've got better things to do than walk into walls playing with the phone.

I have it,, it does not affect my life. All this stuff is strictly up to you and what you make of it. If you let it rule your life, its not messengers fault. That is how I feel about all this social stuff.

I know some older than me who have stopped phoning and emails with some also stopping regular texting cause they want to use Messenger. i don't see the need to change .

I also know some who have revealed their addictive personality cause they are permanently linked to FB, Instagram etc.

Real life is far more interesting.

All I know about the messenger is..... you're not supposed to shoot him.  I don't know why.

Have never owned a cell phone of any type (no kids, never needed for work).  Now the cordless was a great idea.

With the telephone (with answering machine) and computer/email I can communicate with anyone I want to.  One in person and one by writing.  What else is necessary?  Do the other ones give green stamps or something?

I forgot.... I can also still write letters for the mail.  Remember those?

I suppose I'll have to talk to some people that I've it. I really don't think its any different than what you can do by texting and its taking up space on my tablet, plus I get extra pictures on my tablet of friends on line.

Willow, so what the hell does No mean ha ha.you mean just say No to it?  Daughter said it gives you privacy on a tablet so the whole world don't see what you say to someone. That's a point I guess.

I use it for friends that I need to use it to chat with.
I use Google Hangouts for other friends that prefer to chat over that medium.
I have an app installed on my phone called MySMS that redirects old fashioned texts to a web browser so I can reply to them with a real keyboard for those friends that insist on texting old school.

I'll use any of those, just please for the love of all that's holy don't try to call me unless it's a dire emergency...

up to you, if you have friends that use it and you want to chat with them, go for it.   I will never use facebook or messenger or snapchat and all that other garbage not needed in ones life.

I have last year or so been texting briefly but do not have my smartphone glued to my side like 95% of others in this world.

I prefer calling or emailing

I generally only access the internet from my laptop or desktop computers, not my phone. Perhaps because of this, these messenger request puzzle me.

I can get and receive facebook messages just fine from my PC without using a special messenger app.

I take it that if you access facebook by cell you need a special app for messages?

I guess I'll keep it for people that I need to converse with but otherwise won't use it. A friend once told me sometimes he don't want to talk to someone so he sends text messages. I started using Facebook but don't know all the stuff on there and don't use it much but seen others that can't wait to post pure BS stuff on it. I get down right winey when people think they have to text me instead of calling an expect me to text back. I have to pluck with one finger so I don't like all this plucking crap except like here their is no option.
