Look what had strolled through the yard

The  other day in the  late afternoon..  This  happened  7/10  

The top 2 were taken from the kitchen sink window.
Anyone who has been here at the  farm knows this .
Around 8 pm ..



Then he turned back around,



Then he headed to the kitchen entrance.




He looks to be about a 2+ year old boar bear in the  size  range  of  250 -350 lbs ..



I think this is the one that walked through the garden about a month ago!

He then when to the front of the porch.
This was taken from the big living room window. Yuppers you can see the garden .



 The great ScooterCat , warned us about the bear in the first place..
We where watching a movie " Lighting Jack " And scoot trotted across the room growling !
Heading for the bedroom ! I thought it was just a tom cat that spooked her .
Boy howdy was I ever wrong.. I grabbed the camera, as I said to HB A BEAR !
Here  right outside the  door!
Then I started snapping pic... With out giving myself away at the windows  and glass door.

Don finally went outside and shot by the bear.. Just to let him know  he  was  NOT welcome .
The bear  then skedaddle in to the woods fast !
He  didn't  have any button ear tags, so he  is a native  to the mountain.



Scootercat is still looking for the bear .. You can see by her body language
she is upset and alert , BTW she did go under the bed to hide for a while.
I took this  after  she  came  out.

You must have a clean grill, some friends of ours once had a cabin in the mountains east of Taos, about 9800' level. We all got together had a cook out one night, got late so decided we'd clean up our mess in the morning. Bad idea. Old bruin decided the smell of the grill meant food, tore that thing up all while licking and chewing on the racks inside it. Needless to say, that was the last time a dirty grill was left out. My friend had some firecrackers and a couple nights later the bear came back, so he started tossing lit crackers from the balcony. The first couple dropped right behind him, he tucked his butt and spun around swinging at whatever he thought was back there making that noise. Then he stood there looking around sorta confused, so I dropped one right on his hind quarters. That did it, he took off on a dead run and I'm told they never were bothered again. I probably wouldn't bother them either if they stuck a firecracker on my butt.

Great pictures. So you have an overgrown pest I see. Your going to have to keep after him a few times maybe so he stays away. We seen one about a week ago in our drive through park pretty close to the bear pen. Just a yearling tough . I suppose he was lonely for some company, but he split when he seen us. All we get in our yard is deer all the time an a fox once.we live in town next to the park.  I like Johns remarks.

Scaredy cat   we are starting to see more and more black bears here, especially north of Grand Rapids. DNR issued kill permit's are on the increase as well due to a more prevelent  interaction with the public, some not so good.

Black bears are moving south in the lower peninsula and is a concern.  The DNR says bears are encroaching on the public.  I think it just the opposite!  The DNR here could screw up a platinum ball.

That recent attack of a camper in a tent in CO was by a black bear.

They usually aren't that aggressive.  Luckily, the camper punched and eye poked his way free and others scared the bruin away.  Also, he's lucky it wasn't a grizzly, don't think that defensive strategy would work on one of them.

Yesterday morning, there was one on my neighbor's front porch.

A friend of mine lives about a mile down the road and refuses to give up her bird feeders.  Yet , she complains about the 4-5 bears that come to her yard.  I told her she's probably got multiple generations, because they know where to get lunch.

Nice pictures, we have had a bear or 2 here in indiana lately, They showed up last fall  and stayed all winter. They are staying in Big Oaks wildlife refuge. I hope they make a come back here in Indiana. Would be nice to have another animal to eventually hunt.

Yes Yellowstone has them. More than likley grizzly sightings in colorado are blonde black bears.
