Was working on a friends Honda 750, new sprockets and chain. Pulled rear wheel and front sprocket. Installed new front sprocket, so needed to remove old sprocket from rear hub. Five bolts that are torqued to 63 ft/lbs and lock tight. I thought, No big deal. Well I have a DIYER compressor and impact tools. I put the hub in a vise and cranked the compressor to 120 psi. Same to the tool itself. Put on my 19mm socket. Fired away...... Nothing. Didn't budge it. Next, breaker bar with 3 foot cheater pipe. ....Nothing, thought I would break the vise off the table.

So, it's Saturday, I  take it to a tire place, just down the road, I have used before, but they have no vise. HUH ????

I stop at this machine shop / parts store. I go and ask the only guy there, " Hey I have 5 bucks, any chance you could break these 5 bolts loose for me?" He's like yea, no problem, bring it back here.
Well I take it back there and he sets it on a bench. No Vise. Then he pulls open a draw full of sockets and I say, "It's 19mm." He's like oh good. Pulls out the socket and walks to back of shop.
Comes back and he has a CORDLESS impact driver. I kind of laughed to my self. Like "YEA RIGHT, good luck with that.
Well, with out the hub in the vise he slams the socket on the tool and in about 15 seconds spins the nuts right off. !!!!!!
I was like What the heck did I just see. ???
I told him, Dang I'm embarrassed. I tried with my compressor and a cheater pipe, and couldn't get it.
He holds up His cordless drill and says, This got 1100 ft/lbs of torque. Ain't cheap. But I rarely use a compressor.
I said dang. I guess I'll just throw mine in the trash. LOL. He laughed too.
I went to give him the 5 bucks but he refused. I will take all my business there from now on.
Got home and this will be here tomorrow.

I have the new Milwaukee Fuel impact and drill. Second generation and much heavier duty. There is a promo video on everything they changed in them before they hit the market.
They are incredible. Definitely not cheap to purchase but worth it.
I work with them off and on all day and the batteries will last from 2-4 weeks between charges. Have worked the Hell out of these so far and nothing but praise for them.

I had tires put on my truck and the owner of the shop had a Snap On cordless impact driver to torque the bolts. I thought OK  he probably did use too much torque. I found out a few months later when doing a brake job how much. I had a 1/2" breaker bar and a 4' pipe cheater bar and I had to use all my weight to break the bolts loose. Them darn things really shouldn't be used for that. I'm surprised the bolts didn't break. 80 to 100 lbs torque is plenty.

Torque is a method to make something stupid proof. Over torqueing is a sign of a pi$$ poor mechanic.

As far as loosening bolts , a blunt punch that fits in the allen head , a very hard rap with a hammer usually loosens them.

Often the studs stretch and break in a corner where the loads increase. Poor mechanic. He's saving time at the expense your safety.
