Dear friends

I'm slowly catching up with the videos of my trip in 2015. This one is from the ride in Crater Lake national park in Oregon: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FohNMmxQwo

I recommend to watch in fullscreen and 1080p if you can.
:-)

It was an insanely hot day (it was close to 100F) and I was concerned about my valkyrie overheating as the radiator fan was broken, but it never had an issue (as I kept an eye in the oil dip stick thermometer).

I wished I had stayed there longer, but I was in a hurry to ride to Bend (OR), as I started the day in Port Orford (close to 300 miles ride). An approximated route (6 hours non stop, for real, more like 8-9 hours if you count lunch and refueling): https://goo.gl/maps/Bd5277NGFJQ2

I'm planning one day to be back and actually enjoy my time there, as the lake is beautiful and this part of Oregon has great landscape.

Best regards

Savago

As one who lives close to this National Park and visits it several times a year, yes return when you have more time.   It is a beautiful blue lake and does take a bit to get around the 26 mile loop, especially when one stops and looks at even every third pull off.

Not sure what time of year you visited it, but 100 degree temps are a very rare occurrence.  Most of the time temps in the low 90's are rare. Temps today are projected to be in the mid 70's.

I have ridden/drove up there when there was 10'-16' feet of snow on the rim and when it was bare.    As of right now the east loop road is still not opened due to snow.  If was a great snow year for the park.  During normal snow years it would be opened by now.

Oleman

That is a nice feedback, I'm having vacations in 1 week and I'm planning this time to visit the Park by car with my family.

You think the loop road will be open in 1 week?

If you will check the parks website, it will tell you if it's open or not.  Last time I checked they were talking about 7/22 having it open.

Have fun on the trip.

Heading far north tomorrow for some time in Washington area.
