Hey all,
Now that Photobucket is charging for 3rd party hosting, I was wondering what the work-around for this is.  I've seen peoples signature pictures and avatars popping up again (instead of the "update your account" picture) and am wondering is people are simply paying the fee to upgrade their account or switching to something else.
Thanks!

Once you set up your account just load your picture(s). Then just three clicks and you've posted your chosen pic on here.

Once you feed an image in to postimage, you'll get a bunch of options below it:

If you click the little blue button next to "Hotlink for Forums" you can then paste that right into a post and get your image linked in.

Just a disclaimer - Hubcap's suggestion of using Google Sites is probably the better long term solution, although the user friendliness of PostImage makes it a lot easier to quickly and easily put images online for forum usage...

(Posting this so when Postimage pulls a Photobucket (or just disappears one day) I can bring it up and say "Hey, put the tar and feathers away, I warned ya'll! Wink )

Several other forums I am on let you just drop and drag pics off your computer instead of using a third party host, why can't this site be configured to do that. It's a whole lot easier. If they did it the easy way I bet people would post more pics.

That puts a MAJOR load on the forum server, and this one seems to be barely hanging on sometimes as it is...

Is it my suspicious nature or when you sign up to these 3rd party picture sites, don't they make you give them the rights to use your pics anywhere they please?

It would piss me off to no end to see something I posted in a ad or something similar w/o compensation.

I know Photostash can be difficult and frustrating to use, and I could be wrong here, but I feel my stuff is safe there.

I just went through that yesterday.  Got the email and after trying for five minutes I was finally able to log in.  I had to open each picture, right click save as but finally got the ones I wanted to save.  Luckily there weren't that many pics there.

An easier way to download off Photobucket: set up an album(or more than one album) on there and move all your pics to it within PB. Then do the album download, it will then move all your pics in one move rather than each individual picture. If you have a lot of pics, you're going to take up a lot of time.

PS: I need to add....all my pics on PB are uploaded from my 'puter so I'm not faced with losing any. BUT, as further explanation of my suggested album comment above, just set up an album name such as ERATA or whatever, then go back to the "Library" view where it shows all your individual albums in a column on the left and to the right is all your individual pictures. Then just drag from the right over to the new album, a dotted rectangle will appear surrounding the "new" album to let you know you're in the right place, then release the mouse button and you'll see the content number change...first from zero to one with the first pic, and so on with ea. additional transfer.
