I have bought a 99 Valkyrie that has been sitting for about a year. I need help to get the carbs clean and sync'd. I called the dealership and the dude told me that he had to talk to his service manager to see if they work a bike that old ???????????? WTH !!!! If there is anyone in the Crestview/Fort Walto beach area that could help me out. I would glady  trade some BBQ services, Its what  do as I have a BBQ catering Business. Any help will be appreciated.  Big Country !!

The dealer called back and said it would run anywhere from a $1000.00 to $1200.00

Pappy!

That would be in the normal range. I would expect a bit higher actually from a dealer.
Why not do the job yourself. It is time consuming but can be done by anyone with good basic mechanical skills.
You may get a reply from ChrisJ or someone up that way that can shed a bit more local light on it for you.

Here is a good set of videos re: rebuilding carbs on a Valkyrie.

Looks straight forward, but then again I have never done it.

Welcome to the VRCC and Valkyrie world great group of brothers here.  My good friend Jeff who lives in Crestview knows the Valkyrie bike very well. His handle on the VRCC is "Chrisj". He visits the 1500 service board quiet a bit.
Post on that board and keep an eye on it and I'm sure he could help you with advise.
When you get it up to speed and ready to meet some other Valkyrie riders in the area feel free to reach out to me. My Cell is 748-5154. :uglystupid2: We do try to ride most Saturday's and take a trip every now & then too! Good luck and nice to have another Valk brother in the pan-handle.  :coolsmiley:

Hey big... I answered your pm before seeing this thread.  I didn't realise you were in Holt

Once you get the carb bank out give me a shout and I will take a ride over and help you do what I did to get a dead bike running again

About 2 years ago, I watched the YouTube videos that JimC mentioned.  He did a pretty good job.  I checked the local Honda dealer and local motorcycle repair shop and they wanted around $700 to $800 to do the job.  Since I had previously been an auto mechanic for several years, I decided to do the job myself.  If you are mechanically inclined and have to tools, it's not really hard to do, it's just time consuming.  I found that overhaulling the carbs was the easy part.  At least it was for me.  The hardest part is taking everything else apart and reinstalling it.  Especially the air filter housing.  Also, make sure you make note of how your throttle cables are routed before you take them off.  As always, take lots of pictures so you can refer to if needed.  Good luck.
