On my Bushtec trailer it has a 4 prong connector I have never seen this type before. I have looked for an adaptor but no luck. How can I test the trailer lights?  Roll Eyes

Resistance is futile; if less than 1 ohm.

Assuming you have a 12V power source available; i.e. a battery and a couple wires with proper connectors.  One should be a ground, one should be lights and the other two are turn signals.  I have a meter so finding the ground is easy, but it still should be too much of a challenge.  Once you have established which one is ground, just apply power to each of the other terminals and see if it lights up.  Easier in low light unless you have help.

*Note* - I do not have, nor have ever, had any dealings with a Bushtec trailer or the connector you describe, just going by description.

Ground-neutral could should be white or maybe black. IF one of the prongs in the plug is different from the other three it should be the ground neutral or minus. But as Gryphon stated-never had dealings with yer brand of trailer. On my flat plug setup on my towable unit the ground prong IS different from the others. RIDE SAFE.

You say you can't find an adapter. Remove the plug and buy a new plug setup. I use  standard Uhaul style for a 4 wire group.

I'm not sure what you mean about not knowing about 4 prong connector, which is pretty standard. I'm thinking you've probably always have seen 6 or 7 wire connectors.
They are really no different.
white- grd
green- right turn/brake [ green has an R]
yellow- left turn/brake [ yellow has an L]
brown- marker/running lights

These 4 colors are the same in the 6 and 7 wire connectors.

Are you saying a 4 prong. Is it square or a flat one?

My 88' GW I bought out of WA had a square connector, instead of the flat ribbon one. Couldn't find an adaptor anywhere. Bought a regular one, and spliced it in.

Is that the original wiring ?  That sure is different. It really doesn't make any difference as long as the connector wires match.

Straight out of the manual page 35. I thought it would be the same for all Bushtec trailers?

16. WIRE HARNESS COLOR CODES
Following are the primary wiring harness functions identified by color.
GREEN: RUNNING & TAILLIGHTS
WHITE: GROUND
BLUE: BRAKE LIGHTS
YELLOW: RIGHT TURN SIGNAL
BROWN: LEFT TURN SIGNAL
BLACK: INTERIOR LIGHT- SEE SECTION 12
NOTE: Bushtec recommends the use of an Electronic Relay Isolator package on most
new motorcycle installations. The Electronic Relay Isolator package creates a separate
electrical path for trailer lighting and helps avoid damage to the motorcycles harness by
maintaining internal voltage levels. Trailer lighting is powered directly from the battery.
NOTE: Bushtec recommends using electrical or battery grounds as opposed to frame
grounds

Hmm, OK, thanks. Does this hook right up to the Wings harness ? I know nothing about a Wing trailer wiring, or, if there is such a thing.

I think there is a standard color code for trailer wiring. But as long as the lights all light as needed, the color code doesn't matter. Except to the next guy that works on it.
