An AR-15 tale

I don't yet have all the details. But, a friends brother was just sent to prison for 3.5 yrs for owning an AR-15. I've been told that prince Andrew Cuomo [ governor ] has sent a letter to all judges that 3.5 yrs is the minimum sentence to given for any SAFE Act violations.

Apparently AR-15s [some] are illegal in NYS. This can be confusing between fixed and removable clips, pinned clips, suppressors, pistol grips, etc.

I was also just told that NYS pistol permits are now renewable at/for $50/gun every 5 years. I have not heard of that and will be selling quite a few if its true.

I'll post more when I know more. Dumb ass politicians.

I feel for freedom loving folks stuck in failing states. I hate to write off anywhere, but it's really time for the sane folks to vote with their feet and leave, I'm afraid...

When I left illinois in 78 I sorts kinda had an idea of the how and why of where they were headed THEN.  And they did NOT disappoint me in the least!  WHY my Brother and S I L are STILL in il is beyond me. Well I have a good idea but they are lookin to git out. For you folks out east I fer one could NOT make it out there iffin I had too. Someone offered me 12000 a month BUT I hadda live in new york state i'd say thanks but no thanks. RIDE SAFE.

I still somewhat like living in NYS. Upstate is nice country. I'll probably sell within about 5 years and stay south.

Like many places the bigger cities tend to be liberal, NYS is no different. The rural areas here are still conservative/republican, but, that is changing. Our state government is liberal, which is putting it mildly.

The SAFE ACT was a closed door knee jerk reaction to the Newtown tragedy, as I understand it.

I understand, I've got deep roots in the community I live in and even if my state turned to evil it would be difficult to pull up and leave.
And just like in California inland are good and decent folks, I know that upstate New York is a totally different world from the general way the state is going, the powers that be have made it extremely clear that good decent folk are no longer welcome or wanted in that state.

Sad state of affairs all around.

Yep, life gets in the way and you get dug in. I like the 'evil' statement, its appropriate. Problem is as I see it is that one can run only so far. It appears the whole country is tending to go 'evil' and I'm not too sure why.

Iffin it weren't fer GOD GUTS and GUNS there would Not be an AMERICA today. Saddening and Amazing that those three Important Gs are so despised by so many today. I'd much rather have MY WEAPON pried out of my cold dead fingers than to willingly give it up. Cuz even in my small town when seconds matter help Is ONLY minutes away. RIDE SAFE.
