will u like the repair of replacing those batteries in 5-7 yrs? or the electric motor? people get upset when the present alternators cost over $100 to replace.
planned designed failure so a person will buy new again.

These speculations come out every year by people NOT in the know. Honda has always been very tight lipped about even small changes let alone major new models. Don't believe anything till it hits the showroom floor.

yeppers, that is what WE all want,  bigger and more powerful.

How about 6 speeds and power electric up/down windshield,  both something that should have been done a decade ago.

Totally agree.  Other sites have been speculating for months.  They all think the dct transmission is coming.   I imagine that would give you the automatic or paddle shift mode as they do in the CTX700 line.  If they follow that route then they would make a standard shift Goldwing available also.  Again who really knows.  I will say that Honda has filed a slew of patents that has led to the speculation.  Yesterday I was reading how Honda was going to aggressively remake their cruiser and touring line of bikes.  We shall see.

Some motorcycles are destined to be like cars and the Goldwing
is probably one of them. We won't (I won't) want to work on
these motorcycles, just ride them.

My car is "old" (a 2005) and there's nothing under the hood
I recognize. It is in the shop now getting some expensive
regular maintenance, without which it would be a piece of junk
by now. To fix a problem that recently cropped up, it is also getting
a $600 alternator which is probably hidden
way deep down under all that stuff I don't recognize under
the hood. No way would I try to work on that.

I'm not bad-mouthing my car, or modern tech, but new
stuff doesn't lend itself to being worked on like older
stuff.

2000cc is not the answer for more power and actually would lose mpg.
An injector for each cylinder is the answer and will increase MPG. Using 1980's throttle body fuel injection is not the answer which is actually low tech in todays world.  testing yrs ago proved that an Individual runner carb system was just as good sometimes better than a throttle body system at making power and mpg.
Remember Mr Honda is not there anymore, only marketeers are in charge now.

and those marketeers are in their 20s and probably some have never ridden a motorcycle, thus the route probably going smaller, lighter, less power, more fuel efficient (is the biggie my guess), and automatic tranny for those not knowing how to drive a shifting motorcycle IN HOPES of getting the newer generation interested in cycling again.

My guess also is cycles and ATVs, etc. are not flying off the shelves since not too many are buying anymore, especially the younger generation.

The link is well over a year old and mentions the bike possibly arriving in 2017.
