It would have been 2 thumbs up if not for the overly syruped ending.

11 am on a Sunday morning and only about 8 people for the screening.

But of course there has to be one. This time it's what I call a "woman of a certain age". Normally 55 ish +.

As each preview ended she had to, in quite clear normal volume, critique what she had just seen.

The male with her used grunts to respond. I feel he too may have wanted her to shut her pie hole.

It's  a long time since I've heard a soundtrack that made gunfire sound real.

What, you weren't put off by "the fact that there are only a couple of women and no lead actors of color" like the USA Today reviewer was?

(And they wonder why fewer and fewer people are taking them seriously any longer.)

Thanks for the review, been looking forward to this one...

I always considered Dunkirk one of the greatest military blunders of WW 2 (German mistake brits did good getting so many home)

Just an opinion

Oh my and the women were handing out cups of tea and jam butties and blankets and some were nurses. Oh my.

The French also complained that they weren't fairly represented. In the opening sequence the French are quite clearly shown fighting a rear guard action so "Ze Tommies" can wait on the beaches. Plus French soldiers are shown in other scenes.

So I guess their are revisionist forces at work to get the story out as it should have happened and not what actually went down.  Man they show up everywhere.  Did anyone at the USA Today,  even know how to spell Dunkirk.  I am glad they made this movie.  The history of it is not taught in the States.  My wife told me we have to see it, from what others have told her, then asked what is Dunkirk?  I am sure less than 1 in 10 Americans know anything about it.
