Get on it and RIDE!!

Hardwick NJ

« on: July 24, 2017, 11:25:23 AM »

This was last night my son Christopher a volunteer firefighter was first on the seen along with firefighter stoddard this was his first entry into a burning building.

At 18:23 last evening the Blairstown Hose Company and Ambulance Corp were dispatched to Sunset Lake Road in Hardwick Township for the possible structure fire of a detached garage. Upon responding Chief Inscho requested an engine and tender from Hope Fire Department and Rapid Intervention Crew from Allamuchy Fire Department. Deputy Chief Rumsey arrived on scene within minutes and confirmed the fire and updated that it was an attached garage. With this update Chief Inscho filled the 1st Alarm Assignment which included an engine from Knowlton Fire and Rescue and a cascade unit from Mountain Lake Fire Company. The first due crew on Tender 46-72 which consisted of FF Jeremy Stoddart and FF Chris Rossmell quickly went to work and extinguished the bulk of the fire, then the truck crew from Ladder 46-69 arrived and assisted with ventilation and overhaul. The other departments arrived and helped with checking for extension into the house, salvage and overhaul. Stillwater Fire Department responded with a tender and Hackettstown Fire Department was also dispatched for a second Rapid Intervention Crew but was cancelled enroute. We thank all who responded and provided assistance.

The fire is under investigation but it seems to have originated in the car parked in the garage.

There were no injuries to the public or firefighters and the owners were able to return to the home once crews left the scene.
