We're doing the Meet In The Middle ride again this year!  It is on Labor Day Weekend September 1st and 2nd in Sparta, NC. We're doing it as a Ride In this year to make getting to Sparta easier on everyone. The Hotel information is: Alleghany Inn 341 N. Main Street Sparta, NC 28675 (336) 372 2501 The Rate is $71.95 plus tax You will need to use the code: MEET17 to get the discounted rate. I know that several people booked their rooms for this year before leaving last year. I spoke with the hotel manager today and they do have plenty of rooms available for those that haven't booked a room for this year yet. They haven't Blocked off rooms for our group so if you're thinking about going call and book your room right away. Smokin' Joe and I will be leading two rides on Saturday. Smokin' Joe will lead a group on a Spirited Ride and I'll be leading a group on a Smell The Roses Ride. Of course there will be much Tire kickin` and lie Tellin' around the hotel on Saturday night. These Rides are always fun with a Great Time had by all. So give the Hotel a call and book your room ASAP so that you can join in on all the fun. |

I called just to re-confirm my reservations, everything is good.
Wish I could come down and ride in with you Joe, but I don't get out of class until 1:00 on Fridays.
It's about 7 1/2 hours from here so I will be in late Friday evening.

It's getting closer! Just a little over 2 weeks away! I have a route picked out for the "Smell the Roses" ride on Saturday. Some friends and I are planning on doing a pre ride of it this Saturday. I rode it a couple of months ago but figured that it couldn't hurt to ride it one more time. Besides it's a good excuse for a ride and to eat at our planned lunch stop. http://shatleysprings.com/ |

While on the ride I discovered an interesting billboard:  It seems that our friend Gig must've left something of an impression when he was there last year. I asked one of the local residents if she knew anything about the billboard:  She didn't answer my question and seemed to become rather nervous when I mentioned Gig's name.  |

Got in a second pre ride of the route for
Saturday's "Smell the Roses" ride.
After doing the route with a couple of other bikes in tow I did make some minor adjustments but overall everything is good.
We now have reservations for the lunch stop so there shouldn't be any surpises.
I'll post a map of the route as soon as I can.
I also spoke with the hotel staff on Saturday.
There are still rooms available and the weather forecast is a good one.
So if you've been on the fence for this ride get off of it and give the hotel a call.

Circumstances have taken us on a curious little detour, but with that, the stars seem to be aligning and the cosmos allowing things to work out for that after all... I for sure didn't see any of this coming, but hey... it's all good, right?

We will be coming up Friday out of Shady Valley " The Snake " on 58 very nice ride . 99% of the time that's how we leave to come home on Sunday after the ride each year... Going to change up our ride home this year... Nice ride you have laid out folks should enjoy that one. |
