We're considering upgrading our pull behind & I'm "suspicious" of manufactures stated empty weights.
Anybody here actually weighed your empty trailer?
Whatever you pull, from the biggest camper to the smallest cargo trailer, I'd be interested in actual empty weight,
TIA cooldude

I have a Kompact Kamp 17 CF.  The company lit says it weighs 145, with the spare and cooler rack it weighed in at 245 when I had to get it weighed to get Ohio tags.  I would take any given mfg weight as to be the bare trailer as to make it seem easier to pull behind the bike.

Will see if I can find a set of scales to weigh mine.   The local scrap dealer's scale (drive on and off) would get close but, I don't trust it.   Close being within about 20 lbs.    I watch it bounce with a 20 variance every time I pull on or off of it.

Never really checked the weigh ticket that close, I'm just glad to get paid of stuff I want to get rid of.

When I got the tag along, the seller and I lifted it up and put it on the back of my pick up.   My guess is, 150 to 200 lbs.   What I do know is this, it is easy to forget it's back there behind the fat lady.

Yours is an Excell isn't it?

Yeah, that's what I'm finding, manufacture listed weights 80/100lbs shy. Seems they might "fudge" alittle on internal area too...
Bushtec list their Turbo 2 at 125lbs with 25cft cargo space (no friggin way!)
but then list their "internal area" as 43x23x16 in.
Now when I do the math...I get
43x23x16 = 15,824
12x12x12 = 1,728 (cubic foot, yes?)
15,824 / 1728 = 9.15 cft
So where's the other 15.85 cft? Inquiring minds wanna know 2funny

Don't think I've ever noticed a brand tag on it.   All I can really tell you is the gent I got it from pulled it with a very old Goldwing.    angel

so how much weight loaded up do you think our Valks can safely tow power, suspension,  and more importantly braking wise?  350 or 450-500lbs.???

Going down along and then off the BRP in fog and rain you really had to be sure to make gradual deceases in speed and movement.

I really dont know the upper limit but except for those two things, downhill and rain, never had any issue

Truthfully cant tell you how many times I have checked to be sure the bushtec was back there at high speeds. Once you have it balanced weightwise no issues at all.  Did have a few issues with the air suspension but my wingman was quick to let me know he smelled burning rubber and I pumped the air back up with the pump on hand.

That all being said havent used a trailer in years, maybe the Michigan IZ or LaCrosse IZ we just pack really light now.

The answer to your question is multifaceted.   How much depends on the trailer, the trailer's suspension, does this trailer have brakes and the condition of the Valkyrie and the skill of the rider

I've had 440lbs behind the 2K/IS with the CM1000 15cft on more than one occasion.
Scaled it at the shop on truck scale. Trailer weighed right at 140lbs empty (listed as 125lb) so that's 300lbs of campin' gear. Most we ever rolled out weighin' total gross 2 up was 1618lbs with that rig.
We've been jus' shy of a rollin' ton with the Aerodyne trailer & the Wing.
Neither trailer has brakes & I've never been concerned pullin' 'em (but I am Darkside, I'd never even consider it on a bike tire). I always keep the tongue weight at/below 40lbs & inspect bike/trailer thoroughly before every campin' trip. Pulls true, doesn't sway.
Would like to find somethin' lighter (& more aerodynamic!) than the CM1000 for day rides. I've come to the conclusion that the hitch rack we use for that right now "hangs" too much unsprung weight too far behind the rear axle. I don't like how it affects the handling & I'm limited to 'bout 40lbs. Cargo needs its own axle IMO cooldude
