Well at least one. But where there is a brute this size there is usually a following of some females. Its getting close to the time to get the feeder cleaned out and running so in the fall when its not 2 million degrees out there we can go shoot a couple of these bad boys. Man are they good eating!

Do they even require a license? Or have a season?

That size we just got the backhoe and buried them where they fell. For eating we would look for younglins and even then they could be gamey.

I can't speak for Florida, but in Texas they're considered an invasive pest, eradication by all means necessary is not only allowed but encouraged... I've seen folks who put Tannerite under bait, sit back until a bunch are at the Tannerite, and blow 'em away. There's a few outfits that offer helicopter hunts with machine guns even... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubt19wLNcKM(Ted Nugent is a frequent customer, no surprise...) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETgmlcIED6E

Oh man, my mouth is watering.
I haven't checked for a season around here. There were never wild pigs here before, but, there are so many Mennonites and Amish growing them and the escapees apparently turn wild pretty quick. And, the population is growing.

I didn't see any pictures, but 820 pounds is substantial. I estimate the one on my trail cam (top of post) to be around 300 pounds and that is big enough to kill any man that gets in the wrong place at the wrong time!

We have Javalina here. They're "Leaverite" meat. One of the guys at work made summer sausage out of one. Stupidly, I had a piece. I was looking for a catbox to get a breath freshener.

The javelina or peccary are the only pig like animals native to the New World. All the wild pigs we see are either escaped domestic animals or the descendants of such. They do turn "wild" quickly and they are a problem in several parts of the U.S.

Well, actually some wild pigs are neither native to North America nor related to the domestic swine we raise. Some of the most dangerous wild pigs are imported from North East Europe. These " Russian" pigs have bred with our more common domestic ones but not all are mixed.

When I see and read about the wild pigs with their various names it reminds me of an investigative report I read for the first time back in 2008 I believe. On April 3rd, 2004 one Hog Hunter got to witness a most extraordinary Hog hunt, one that would shake him to his core. Here one can learn of the hunting technique of North Americas most cunning forest predator. http://www.bfro.net/gdb/show_report.asp?id=8547

Will it ever end???

All I got out of that story was that there is a huge, hairy, woman, really pissed off and stealing all the bacon. If she was on our side she'd leave us the bacon. At least some of it.

As long as your talking pigs its a dandy for sure an not trying to mess up your post but have to add because we just don't have them around here . a lady told my wife this morning that they just moved on a farm and when she opened up the door this morning this cute little pig just wandered in the house. Ha ha I guess the dog and cats had no clue what the hell it was.
