This is why I say the mainstream media is circling the drain towards oblivion. Yeah, a reputable paper like The Boston Globe thought this was news worthy? Really?

(And yeah, I know I'm falling for their shtick by posting a link but: https://www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2017/08/01/the-solar-eclipse-coming-trump-country/Ldd7MhDroW1cdYCwCBoxbO/story.html )

Ah...it all makes sense now. Trump was born during an eclipse.  Smiley

I agree, it's not breaking news. More like a trivia question.

It's a stupid observation.  Isn't any line that crosses the middle of the country overwhelmingly passing thru counties that voted for the current President?

I didn't bother to read the article.  It's even a stupid excuse for an article (and a rather inane title).

Yeah, that was kinda my point. Why did someone think this was news worthy?

(And yeah, that could be pointed back at me, but I'd argue the fact that someone thought this was news worthy is far more newsworthy (And telling) than the actual "news" it purports to be reporting is...)

There are stupid observations in the "news" all the time. It wasn't too distant that we had a constant barrage of a Muslim born in Kenya as our President.  Roll Eyes

And that was in the news how?  My recollection is that it was only reported as it couldn't possibly be true.  Constant barrage?  We need to swap news sources.   Roll Eyes

Comparing Alex Jones and his ilk to the Boston Globe? Shouldn't we be holding "serious" news sources to a much higher standard than The National Enquirer and Infowars?

(But the fact that Obama (pbuh) is a Keynesian is a well established fact, but that's ancillary to this discussion.)

2funny I'm sure there are many who feel Infowars and the Enquirer are serious news outlets. (Many here even)

All I remember was that when I looked at the map, Trump had better coverage than Verizon
Lets face it,, if the media can in any way link anything to Trump falsely or otherwise they will do it.

I've been looking at possible places to move to when the wife and I are retired.

Based upon this map I think that I'm going to start looking for a place near Broken Bow, OK

That'd also put you very close to an awesome motorcycle road, the Talimena Scenic Drive...

I got a feeling that when all this blows over,, Trump will be guilty of nothing. Then we will get to see if you beat a dead horse.

Look who just caught up...

Yes, it's unfortunate, but hopefully they'll settle whatever grievances they may have and get back to the business of fact-checking and sifting out the BS.

I like the Enquirer, it's more humorous than the comics....at least to me it is. And works better as a fly swatter than trying to hit it with a radio.  Cheesy

Randy, I'm sorry to hear this.  Undecided Mine left 14 years ago, and I still think about him all the time. I for one don't care if you are able to follow our bullshit politics at all. I do hope you are able to spend every quality minute you can with him. Take care my friend.  Wink

This is why I say the mainstream media is circling the drain towards oblivion. Yeah, a reputable paper like The Boston Globe thought this was news worthy? Really?

"News Worthy" is currently defined as "gets clicks"...and instantly tracked...so yeah, some stupid excuse for an article goes up and folks pass it around and the "dashboard" (newest buzzword in big data) shows it trending and the editors (accountants) surge forward with the unified cry of "POST MORE OF THAT KIND OF STUFF FAST!!!"

Sad...yet here we are...

Note: This is also how reporters are rated nowadays...so the few good ones left doing actual...yanno...journalism...are a dying breed...

I stayed in a hotel overnight last Sunday in Boone NC.

I watched some FOX, CNN, MSNBC etc and what a pile of crap especially the Monday morning offerings.

Over dressed, over made up, over hair styled (and that's just the males) vacuous whining from all.

I'm told some people pay to have this crap brought into their homes.

You can fool a lot of the people a lot of the time.

And the stoopid incessant ads targeting stoopid people.

Hell in a hand basket.

That appears to be de rigueur.  The local news I see looks as if it was prepared by the local high school with high school kids as the target audience.
