I decided to replace the flimsy stock on my Savage 10P .308 with a Boyd's Pro Varmint laminated wood. I had to do quite a bit of inletting to free float the barrel. Dowel rods, garnet cloth, and a Brownell scraper did it after four hours of work.

The Savage has the Savage Accurite trigger, a threaded barrel for a brake or supprosser, and a Redfield 3x9 x42 scope now made by Leupold.  Now to drive some tacks if I can do it. Smiley

Nice! I prefer wood stocks over synthetic.  Getting harder and harder to find.  Especially "good" wooden stocks.

Solo1,

Do you deer hunt or just target shoot?

That is a fine outfit you have there.

Thanks,
John

It's funny, I no longer do either. I'm not really sure but I like a good bolt action CF rifle.

Let's just say I have pistols for short range, A HiPoint .40 cal carbine for medium, and this for 'reaching out"

I would hope that I can shoot sub minute with this using Federal 168gr boat tail match.  The trigger is superb, don't know about the rest yet.

let us know how much it kicks or more so should I say JUMP UP since unless my eyes deceive me,  that is a pretty short barrel on a .308 caliber rifle.

It's a 16 inch and the recoil is mild.  I've been shooting for over 60 years and it IS mild!

The rifle weighs close to nine pounds, no lightweight.

Nice!  My son is 11 and I just got him his first gun, a Ruger 10/22 with wood stocks.  6 more days till we pick it up and go plinking!
