I know they have been discussed many times before. But I have a question or 2 about them. Does a unit with Bluetooth send its voice commands to a Sena 20s ? And does this one see like a good choice ?

Yes, the Bluetooth will send the spoken commands (And music if the GPS is an MP3 player as well) to a Sena 20s.

Having said that, I spent literally thousands of dollars on high end motorcycle specific GPS systems. I sold them all or gave them away, and just use my Android phone running Waze now.

The phone is just so much better than a stand alone GPS unit, not only does is do the GPS routing, it also has live updates, reports on and routes around traffic, construction, warns me of road hazards like speed traps, etc. and now I have one less gadget to keep up with while riding.

Only a Zumo unit will pair a BT headset unit.

We have used Brenda's IPhone in the past like that. I figured a dedicated GPS would be better.

Thanks, I remember that now.  cooldude

Exactly - I have that exact Garmin Nuvi 2597 , and it WILL NOT talk to my sena 10 headset.  My phone will talk bluetooth to it in the car as a handsfree. You should also get a holder that will protect it from the weather ( this is what I use - https://www.amazon.com/ChargerCity-Resistant-Bicycle-Motorcycle-Security/dp/B00JAULSTI/ref=pd_rhf_dp_p_img_5?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=A4VPNR1FTJHPW467D4GN ), and find a way to power it. The traffic on it only works with a Garmin 12V powersupply plugged in.

However - I prefer a GPS device over using a phone.

Well heck, I stand corrected, thought any GPS w/ Bluetooth would work, but all the stand alone GPS units I had were Garmin Zumos...

I had a girlfriend like that once, while that's a good trait for a GPS, not so much for a potential long term mate... Wink

+1 on using phone. Everything in one device. Used googlemaps for navigation ... no offline maps, and even streamed music all day + surfing for hotels etc , for a 10 days /2500 miles trip around Europe. Used less than 2 GB of data. .. and it's all same price in Europe no roaming charges ... "roam like home"
Not sure how this would work in the US though..?

The Nuvi will not blue  tooth to your 20s, you need to go to the zumo model to work with your
 20s.
The nuvi will not recognise  your 20s, have been down this path.

Thanks  cooldude I'm glad I asked. I just assumed Bluetooth meant it paired with devices. I think we will just keep stumbling thru with Brenda's iPhone . Those Zumos are a little out of my price range.

Because I wanted Bluetooth to my Sena 20s, I had to go with the Zumo. Found that the 395 was about 398...or 200 off the normal 598 price. I like it and although it could have a bigger screen, I couldn't afford the 598. I like the dedicated cradle it came with that's always powered.
