Yeah, the biggest I've personally got was 110 lb. One time fishing with my brothers FIL he got a 175 lb. What she was saying about them being dangerous is true. Their tails can break your leg or worse damage the boat.

Is that the bottom or top? Looks similar to the flounder we have down here except the tail and 370 pounds too heavy. A lot of fish to fry!

Bottom. They are very similar to flounder. I'm not sure about flounder, but halibut start with an eye on each side of the fish. As they grow the eye on the white side moves to the gray side.

That's one thing I hate about living on the US east coast, Halibut is almost non existent.  Really miss the Left coast for the seafood.  Damn that's a nice fish..

It's not nonexistent here but it sure has increased in price . When I got out of the Navy, I went back to cutting meat. I also sold halibut out of my bosses truck at major intersections, bars, etc. to make some extra money. I sold it for $.99 a lb. fresh. Now we sell it frozen for $6.99 for a 4 oz. portion.  Shocked

that is on my bucket list, to go to Alaska and catch a big halibut.

Never had halibut either but as said, am sure I would like it.  Perch deep fried are my favorite in freshwater fish and cod is very good also, deep fried of course.
