I really didn't want to post this. I don't need advice.

I had Turp surgery on June 12th.  In layman's terms, it's carving the prostate for a better flow. Due to a number of things as a result of that, I've had a decrease in my Quality of Life since. I won't describe my problems but they have been present all of the 8 weeks since then.  I'm feeling low.

Last week, after three different antibiotics, I have been diagnosed as having a urinary tract MRSA infection, hospital induced.

I'm now on a MRSA specific antibiotic but had to go back and have a catheter installed to relieve my symptoms.

Support and prayers would be nice. Suggestions and telling of bad things about MRSA would not be.

Man that mrsa is bad news, unfortunately it is not uncommon to acquire it in a hospital these days.  Even my wife got it after hand surgery before I met her and was on heavy doses of special antibiotics.
I do so hope you beat this bug and but soon.  The best.

Half the country has had or has been exposed to MRSA at some point or another. No biggie. Plenty of spots on the Valk to hang your Pee-Bag, get out and ride, it'll boost your spirits.

Nope, the bag is like a thigh combat holster but inside the pants ,doesn't even show.

I did have a Valk but now I drive a Miata. I'll adjust my attitude tomorrow in the Miata with the top down. Tnx for reminding me. Smiley

MRSA is more common then you think and not really all that bad. I have pts with it at least once a week. Doesn't really change anything for me.

Wayne, prayers already started, the Lord was supposed to show you mercy, not MRSA! I'm sure he'll make the correction shortly. Enjoy the wind, however you get it. (and even if you make it yourself!)

Exactly 99% of people don't realize that Staph is on EVERYthing you touch every day. Saying it is hospital acquired ( not saying it wasn't Wayne) but it is a way for insurance not to pay.

now that they know what's going on, you are on your way to recovery. Be patient a little while longer - you'll get better. Sending prayers to make sure that comes true.

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers.  I,too, have found that out that MRSA isn't all that uncommon these days.  The Urologist didn't tell me that it was MRSA and I almost flipped when I found out.  I've gone back to my regular Urologist now and he's much better.  It's been a little tough wearing the temporary plumbing (hard to sleep)but I'm headed in the right direction.

Re, the comment about insurance .  I have gotten all of the Medicare and supplementary plan payments info and I'm satisfied that charges left to me are reasonable.

What was unreasonable was my Part D prescription plan's refusal to pay for the MRSA antibiotic.  They wanted a statement from the urologist.  Knowing the reputation of slow turnaround and probable refusal to pay, I had to find another source quickly. I felt like s*** but I had to do it.  Believe it or not it was Costco!  $208 for a 21 days supply. No insurance, no red tape. Excellent pharmacy.

Comes December, I'll be looking for a different Part D plan and rely more on the VA to fill prescriptions.
