Either June 3 (early bird) to June 8
or June 10 (early bird) to June 15

Not asking for votes on the dates; it depends on hotel commitments.

We haven't seen you at InZane in awhile, it wound nice to have your attend!  We are looking at two locations right now.  If you were to travel to the further of the two in one day, you could almost get an Iron Butt... almost.  Both locations are East of Ol' Man River.

Serk, are you listening?

Of course!

What we know so far:

East of the Mississippi
~1000 miles from Broussard Louisiana (Give or take)
~1341 miles or less from Rowlett, TX
Different direction than from Rowlett TX to Billings MT (But "east of the Mississippi" kinda makes that data point redundant)

So... Here's a map of how far you can go in 1000 miles from Broussard Louisiana. The black line is (roughly, I'm no cartographer!) the Mississippi river, so we only need to pay attention to the points on the right side of that line:

And here's a map of how far you can go in 1341 miles from Serkville, with the same rough line put in:

So now we need to compare the two images for points of commonality... I'm seeing quite a few really, but WV, western Virginia, parts of the Carolinas and Georgia too.

Technically parts of Florida too, but the northern part of Florida really ain't the best motorcycling roads (Sorry Floridians) and I just can't see 'em trying to have Inzane at Disney World.

Only missed the last two.  I was teaching Vacation Bible School for the one after SpearfIsh and then had to work for the last one.  Bummer too - had a good friend I worked with in Africa that lived in Billings.  Hope to see you at the next one!

Only 992.7 miles from Broussard La to Raleigh NC. Just a guess.

Chicago is in there, but I think we can safely rule that out!
I'm guessing we can count anything north of Indianapolis out also.

So, East of Mississippi River within those parameters ... won't repeat in the WV area so soon I would guess...won't be in FL I also presume.... most of MI is just outside of one of those parameters... didn't see a lot in Il, OH, IA, IN when I rode through last year (yes I'm sure there are some good riding areas, my route just didn't go through any) ... MS, LA are a little close to the two "starting points" mentioned here to get anywhere near 1k.... So, how's the weather in TN/GA/NC/AL/SC/KY in early June? Kentucky is goergous, never been to these others...

Spousal unit was reading over my shoulder and her guess is Asheville (Although Inzane was there semi-recently, maybe going for a "We've been here before" deal?)

would love to see one in the south, NC, tn, ky or some thing similar.  Would love to make one before I hang up riding for good, not getting any younger.

How about Broussard La., to Irwin Tn, 856 miles, almost an iron butt and beautiful riding?

Look up Blood Mountain ...  Awesome area for the art of motorcycling... We left Thumpers ashes across 100 miles of that area... Its somewhat sacred ground to me now.

Hmmm, not so sure about that mileage software calculation.  For instance, Jacksonville is only 665 miles from Broussard, but for some reason it cuts it off.

P.S.  It's not in Jacksonville, just an example that the software may be cutting off some possibilities.

I don't think Jacksonville meets the good MC roads requirement.  What is the mapping app you're using?

I agree...

This is what I've been using to calculate the "How far can I go from point X in Y miles" tool:

I played with the program a little bit last night.  The map result changes a bit each time you run it.  BTW, did you know if you don't clear the map before putting in a new search, it will superimpose the new on the original?

LOL! I spent hours trying to figure out how to get a combined image of both! Sometimes it's the simplest solutions...

So... With that info, we have this:

Which I notice a commonality of the two areas as well as an area with decent motorcycle roads (Or so I've heard) roughly within the red circle:

So... How am I doing? Smiley

There's still a fatal flaw in one of the Serkles.
The radius of the red circle is far too small to include both locations under consideration.

Sooo, a swing and a miss.

Dangit... Having 2 possibilities that are evidently pretty far apart does make it a wee bit more complicated...

Am I at least in the general neighborhood kinda sorta? (I know, my wording gives Willow all kinds of opportunities for his literalism)

Hmmm... 1200 miles from me (Meets the distance requirement) but 1084 from Broussard LA, too far.
Also too close to DC, wouldn't want anyone to get infected! Wink

Not so... the radius would have to at least 120.725 miles (as the crow flies) to include both locations.  And that's assuming you hit the exact halfway point between the two.

I think your problem, Serk, is that you are just taking a WAG. You need to add a "S" in front.

Then it becomes a SCIENTIFIC(WAG), ie a    SWAG.

Those are much more accurate!

Here's an interesting fact.

Both locations are less than 850 miles for both Grumpy and Oss.

Now that should be enough info for a decent Serkle!!
