Which seat?

Looking to replace the OEM seat on my 98 Standard and after looking at different brands and how expensive the good ones are hoping to get some feedback. I have looked at Russell Daylong, Hartco, Ultimate and Baldwin Saddles. I do not have a preference as to brand just need to be able to ride 5-6 hours without being in pain. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

if you are 6' tall or less, I would highly recommend a Mustang seat. . . (sits a tad higher and closer to the handlebars). . .

I've tried all the brands you've mentioned, and after landing on Mustang products, I haven't looked back.

Allow a good 6 months to break it in.

Seats are really individually personal.  And it doesn't seem to be big/tall guys like this and little/short guys like that either.

If at all possible, considering they are all spendy, attend a valk gathering and beg to try other's seats for short rides.  It's just one key turn away from on and off to swap around.

Only Ultimate gives you the option of a return for full cash (for 10 days or something) if you don't want it for any reason.

And don't forget to look in our classified for used. 

Also, unless you have a committed back seater you are looking to upgrade too, you can look for just a driver's solo and leave the rest stock.  It's all black vinyl.  Most will fit, but some may not (ultimate King Boy won't).

Make sure any driver's seat you get comes with a backrest, if you want one.  Some Mustangs are made that don't take a backrest.   (though a Utopia may fit one of those, dunno)

I had a Rune where I bought an Ultimate seat for a with a removable backrest.  I just bought a 99' standard and fortunately it had an Ultimate with backrest.  Never tried a Mustang but for me a backrest is a gotta have piece. 
And yes the prices on seats are insane.

I have the Ultimate seat, but I use the airhawk seat cushion. Without a cushion I have trouble sitting very long so I wonder if it matters which seat I have? Also the worst problem for me is the heat. If my bottom gets wet with sweat I can't be comfortable, everything bites or pinches after that. The back rest is a must for me also. I can put pressure against the back rest and stand up enough to reposition the seat cushion.  2 cents, maybe

I have a 15 year old mustang and a 5 year old ultimate.

While the mustang has given me excellent service, I go to the ultimate when I can make a choice.

When I scrap the mola together, I'll be getting a ultimate for my I/S.

I ride on Ultimates and a Corbin.  I can ride 600 miles in a day on any of them.

I started on a 2000+ OEM saddle.  I told my friends the OEM was actually as comfortable or better but the OEM was a better appearance.

I have an extra OEM I'd let you try but I'm 350 miles south of you.

I've found the best solution to comfort in the saddle is more time in the saddle.  Riders who ride only occasionally will be sensitive to the saddle.  Riders who's butts have spent a lot of time in the saddle will generally be less sensitive.

That said a 1998 Valkyrie OEM is simply unacceptable.

I keep hearing great things about the Russell Daylong.  Don't get me wrong, it looks REALLY comfortable, and I'm sure it is... but I just can't get past the look.  It's just so... big.

I've tried Corbin,ultimate,mustang and a few others.The mustang wins in price and comfort.
