My son is in Richwood Tx. and his house is 3 feet deep in water and will be for the next few days before it even starts to recede. The news is all about Houston and surrounding areas but what about those in Rockport? the city was wiped out from harvey, most people down there dont have flood ins. because it is either not offered or so expensive the working class cant afford it. You have  Freeport, Clute, Lake Jackson (where my daughter is), Brazoria, all under water...
The reason I feel so helpless is because I am 850 miles away and cant lift a finger to help...I cant go down there because all roads are closed and they wont let you in unless you have property there. John will have to rebuild the lower half of his house, and it breaks my heart to hear a grown man cry..
my surgery took everything i had in savings so I cant help him that way, (thank you obama care),not asking for money, you guys did that when my son in laws house burned down,, i am just venting and asking for a few prayers,, the Govt is all over houston but avoiding the southeast like the plague.

I will post a few pics. and keep yall updated as time goes by..

If you know anyone from here thats down there that needs help please say a prayer for them too. everyone is sticking together.

notice you dont hear about very much looting? its because Texas is a property state and can use deadly force to protect whats theirs.

here are a few pics of the inside of their home.

thanks guys for letting me vent

There are no words to describe this mess.  Sorry for your families loss, but they are safe, that's the big picture! My best friend lives in Houston,  he called me sobbing his eyes out. It was gut wrenching!! Asked him if he wanted me to come down? He said nothing I can do.

His family is safe but their loss is total. I can't imagine! Makes me sick to my stomach!

Prayers ongoing for ALL affected by harvey.  angel Flooding we had here in the Sho Me earlier this year seems minor in comparison to what is STILL going on in Texas and Louisiana. All though I'm attempting to keep track on the T V and my puter I can NOT in any way shape or form git my head completely wrapped around this Tragedy.  Undecided Jess Tolbirt-the Really IMPORTANT thing here is your Family Survived. It Will take awhile But everything else WILL fall into place.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

I cannot imagine the sick to my stomach feeling they must be having.

My basement flooded a mere 2 inches tops all 48 feet long of it when my sump pump failed in the late 90's after a 3-4 inch heavy rainy day.  Worst I had to do was shop vac it all up and toss out the old carpet laying down there.  Even that took a full weekend to do but still was not OVER the 2x4 studs along the walls.

3 feet of standing water in your MAIN level would be devastating.  At least I sure hope all have flood insurance and can always rebuild, just takes time.

Maybe hoping friends and family can offer places to stay since rebuilding will take months and months and months.  So sad.

because of the cost of flood ins down there it is estimated that only about 20% of the people have flood ins.

sorry to read about so many with terrible stories

On the shore many towns now want people to have lower open levels for parking with the living quarters on the 2nd floor. Electric hookups also on 2nd floor  Suppose you could cover the sides with shingles so not fugly.

Seems like the 100 yr storms are every year and the 1000 yr storms every few years.

Because of flooding I have no less than four pipes running from my garage drains and leaders/gutters downhill to the back of my property as well as a hand dug dry well

Pretty sure I accidentally broke one of the pvc pipes digging potato bed in side garden this spring and will need to repair (splice in new pipe) before the next hurricane or f1 tornado passes ny

We have had 2 f1's within 5 miles of here dump a foot of water in minutes.  Scary stuff indeed.  We dont store anything on the floor of the basement all is at least a foot off the floor

Got lucky I wasn't affected. But I have to admit I got a warm fuzzy feeling when a Fort Bend county sheriff was quoted. "We here in Fort Bend county believe in the second amendment and if you try to loot here you will probably be carried out in a body bag. Hell yeah that's the old Texas talking love it!!

Couple looters git lead poisoning well in my book they had it comin. Protectin ones property frees up court time fer other "stuff". And if widely publicized sends a message to other would be looters. Try THAT here and your ticket gits punched-FOREVER. RIDE SAFE.
