RAM mount suggestions for I/S

I want to use my phone for GPS plus, I live in Atlanta where the radio stations suck....especially the country stations. I purchased a RAM mount and would like to know where you mounted it the first time and where you may have moved it to afterwards...and why? Did you mount to the handlebars or did you use the mounting option for the front brake fluid reservoir? If you are right handed, which side worked out best for you? Where did you mount your 12v outlet?

I know I could just use the trial and error but why would I do that? I have gotten so many great tips from this board(and hopefully supplied a few), so I thought I would ask.

My interstate came with two power ports mounted in the fairing, left and right.  Only thing, they were BMW-style female sockets, so I had to use short converter wires for all cigarette plug accessories.  The BMW plugs hold better than cigarette plugs, but since most accessories are cigarette plug, it was probably a poor choice.

I mounted my ram in tight to the existing radio control cluster (for a satelite radio).  One, I figured since all the other radio controls were there, why not have them all together.  Two, your left hand is free for pushing buttons, while the right is on the throttle (and this is true whether right or left handed).  

Lots of guys mount things in the center, not with a ram, but with velcro to the center clamp.  I suppose that keeps thing in your line of sight better, but I didn't want anything in the center, and with a radio set to a good channel, I didn't have to constantly look at it or fiddle with it.  A GPS may be better in the center for line of sight, but a radio is better on the left IMHO.  

One other thing, a center mount may be more waterproof than out on a handlebar.  I put my sat radio in a little clear plastic condom deal, and it did fine in the rain.  

To me, this idea should be reverse engineered.  You sit down and figure what you want to mount, and how it will be used, and with what hand, and how often you will be looking at it, then you put it in the best location for all those factors.

This is what I went with. Better line of sight for me and less chance of vibration. Those folks at RAM Mount are mechanical engineering contortionists for sure....

It doesn't take up space on the bars, and is centrally located on the clamp.  Just remove one of the four bolts and use one of theirs.

The mirror mount RAM ball that comes with it is removable, and I use the ball linked above.  Thius both holds your phone and charges it in one inexpensive, compact unit.
