Firefighters from Arkadelphia, Arkansas traveled to Houston to help with Harvey recovery efforts. Both crews worked together and used a boat motor and spew water on a burning house. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=lL15i7TrTWQ

Talk bout adapting to a situation! Cut costs-hook hose from hydrant directly to intake of jet motor and have at it! New fire truck-what-1/4 mil? Jet boat motor-what 10 12 grand? I'm just sayin. RIDE SAFE.

RIDE SAFE. That is NOT a jet boat. It has a regular prop motor with the prop barely in the water at the correct angle to spray the water.

good idea and creative, but do that for and extended amount of time with the water pump inlet OUT of the water, good way to blow the motor/overheat it. Need to put the motor more in the water more so to pump water in to go out to keep the engine cooler.

Not to get in a pissing match but watching the "direct stream" of water sure looks like it might be a jet drive. If it was a "prop barley in the water" I'd think the guys standing near the motor would be soaked as the prop would spray water all over the close proximity, at least mine would. Got to admit, that is a lot of water being dumped on the house. and that is quite creative...

That is a jet pump outboard, remove the lower unit and install the get drive. Improvise, we were always going to plan B or maybe C, always had a basic plan to start with then something would change that.
New fire truck-what-1/4 mil? And most fire pumpers come in at around 3/4 million now a days!

Yup-seen them on the river when I went tubing with my Daughter couple years ago. That directed stream was what made me think-jet drive. I KNOW Fire and Rescue equipment IS cursed spendy but been awhile-70s 80s since I've personally priced any Fire and Rescue equipment. AND it were spendy Then! RIDE SAFE.

Many years ago, in the Before Valk times, I had a jet ski... I was on the lake, running back and forth at high speed near the shore in an area protected from the wind by an earthen dam/road thing. (I liked to make high speed runs there because of the smooth water because it was protected from the wind.)
After a few runs I noticed an old geezer on the shore fishing, flailing his arms around at me. I hadn't noticed him before, I wanted to apologize for messing up his peaceful fishing, so I idle'ed the boat towards him.
Even though it was pretty obvious I was coming to talk, and was going slow and quiet, he was cussing up a storm at me, even though I was trying to apologize and explain I hadn't seen him, and was going elsewhere.
He went so far as to claim my parents were never married, and then continued cursing from there.
I gave up on the diplomatic solution, turned around and went full speed away from him, did a 180 and charged him at full speed. Keep in mind, this little boat had 95 horsepower. It would MOVE.
Right before I hit the shore I let off the throttle, turned the handle bars, leaned forward to dip the nose down, spun the rear around until the jet nozzle was pointing right at him, and gave it full throttle, converting my little boat from a 95 horsepower boat to a 95 horsepower water cannon.
I TRIED to be diplomatic about it, but he wanted none of that... Oh well... I felt better after that.
