it seems unsatisfying to drive something that you can't "floor it" for some few seconds anyway with some infrequency..my Zo6 with a 24 mph average for the last 9 months comes to mind..this would be similar..maybe I need to move to Germany..

It needs narrower mufflers so the bags could be bigger and hold more.

If I had the $$$ and garage space. Roll Eyes

I'm sure it is a joy to ride, but I'll enjoy my F6B. At least until /if the rumors hold true about a new Wing and F6B. cooldude

I think it looks awesome.  According to those that have ridden, it performs the same.  It has everything I could want except for feet forward controls, which is the only way this body and knees and hips is happy with for extended rides,  but in truth I would have to ride it to see if the transition from shifting peg to forward floorboads would be acceptable.  The weight at less than 750 pounds is great.  Price point is good.  Will it convert Harley guys?  --- damn few, but it can eat into the Goldwing crowd unless the new wing is just as good or better - time is near according to Reb.   There are no BMW dealers in the greater Dayton area so I would have to go to Indy or NE Ohio to sit on one.

According to my lifetime SOP, I'd wait for about 5 years of production, see how it pans out, recalls, chronic issues and solutions, maintenance at home or only in a shop for big money.  Then if it still looked good, buy one used (for half off?).  Maybe.  I'd still have my two '99 Interstates, there would still be nothing wrong with them (besides fading chrome and paint).  And I'd have to part with one of them (for small money).

And in five years, I'm gonna be old.   Grin

If my bmw bike can hold up for five more years I would get a used one.

It still has less than 70k on it and apart from burning a bit of oil it hauls a$$
and is much more manueverable than the bike Interstate

Maybe the price would be under 10k by then

never buy new not worth it.  under 10K in 7-9 more years would be worth it to consider though.

Its a beautiful machine but personally I can't see a time in the foreseeable future I would own a BMW. Their dealer network in this part of the country is sparse and I can't see having a dealer over 100 miles away.
I am looking forward to the possibility of a new Gold Wing. Given the recent advancements in this market segment HONDA is going to have to make some significant changes if they want to remain the gold standard for touring. I wouldn't buy the first model year but the second one could tempt me. cooldude

I don't think it's ugly.  Looks-wise, it's fine with me, actually pretty vanilla sport tourer, and ST and FJR and even Kawasaki looking.  With some edgy bodywork from fairing to tank to bags.

I like that the bags are not unitized with the ass end like the B.  But they are a bit too fat and too short.  The exhaust is too fat, and look like car mufflers.  The rear fender should not be an adventure bike plastic flap; it and the bags should be longer, down to 4" cans.  And it looks like I'd want taller risers.  And a solo seat with backrest, with a good solid rack where the rear seat is.  And if it can't have engine & bag guards, it ought to come with some heavy duty sliders fore and aft so the bike doesn't get murdered in a fall and slide.  Other than that, it's OK.

Wait, I already have two of those.

I like black bikes, but it might really shine in a couple colors, even a two tone (pearl white and black).

It looks like it may have combination engine guards-highway boards that can be bolted on.

Thanks for the pics Jess,

Did not notice the forward floorboards at first, that is something I wish my R1150 had ( it does however have both engine and bag crash bars and a center stand, neither of which are on the new bike)

The riding position seemed funny till I realized the rider had knee armor under the jeans.  I would like to take one out for a ride next June at Americade as well as the new version of the GS1200 adventure, depending of course when and where Inzane is held

Never cared for the looks of any BMW. The moment I first looked at the post I said to my self, " they nailed it " . Sure the mufflers and a couple of other things are not perfect but IMHO that is one sweet
bike. I have always liked the F6B but I like this better. At $25k for the full meal that is a bargain compared to some of the HD's and some Gold Wings. Of course having started the trip on my 70's this year $25k is
the pot of gold at the end of the rain bow. I would like to take one for a spin. Went to the mail box a few minutes ago and had to walk by my Black 98 Tourer. Still the best looking bike on the planet. I will remain
in a monogamous relationship with my Gurl until the riding days are over.
