ride cameras

Ever since son Andy was nearly taken out right in front of me by a pickup driver who then lied about what happened I've been thinking about a ride camera. Not helmet mounted, not just to record my favorite corners but one that runs off the bike's electrical system. One that is weather-proof, records continuously and loops the recording so it never runs out of storage space, just records over the oldest video first.

Is anybody here using such an animal? If so, what brand, model and how is it working out?

Although I don't own  one, I recently observed another rider at the DRU that had a Go Pro.   Not sure what model but, if I understood him, the Go Pro has that capability.    What got my attention was, his beautiful wife was seeing what the camera saw on her cell phone.   Thought that was cool.

Interested to learn what you find out.

dash cams are big in Russia where its common for someone to cut you off stop short, even back into you and then cry like a baby from a fake injury,  or one obtained elsewhere

Been thinking of it for my car and bike and would love to see recommendations

I've run a bullet hd bikermate cam system for the past couple of years.
Works like a dashcam - on/off with the ignition, loop recording, waterproof bullet lens (the rest fits under the seat). I have mine mounted on the bars just ahead of the clutch reservoir behind the screen.

Here's a youtube link to a clip. It's two 3 minute loops, and you can see where the loop starts/stops. I believe it 'jumps' back a half second so nothing is missed.

YouTube compression lowers the resolution somewhat; straight from the memory card onto the pc however, it's crystal clear

wal mart,, right beside the go pro are cheaper ones, i bought the 75 dollar one and it works great..starts recording when you start the engine and stops when you turn it off,, i believe it works off of the voltage differences somehow...i cant think of the manufacturer right now but something like panasonic? or something like that..
