I'm letting my remote control and wallet communicate with the NFL. I feel quite certain if enough of us do that, they will get the message.

So I thought it was a brilliant stroke of political genius and quite acceptable... What do ya'll feel about the Jones Compromise?
Let them have a kneel BEFORE the anthem as a nod to strife as a moment of silence, on the condition that EVERYONE stands and respects the flag during the anthem?

WOULD have been a great compromise... but now? Too little, too late. I've lost all respect for most of the NFL. It will take a LOT to get it back.

Maybe I'm missing something, but from what I've seen, they still did the locked arms thing during the anthem... wasn't that how many of the teams demonstrated their protest?

I read it as Jerry trying to have it both ways. Kneel to political correctness and then try to appease the conservative cowboy base by standing during the anthem. Not what I expected for him. Not appeased here. I watched the opening to see what would happen then I turned to an American Pickers rerun.

Locking arms with their owner? I don't understand why they aren't protesting Jerry, a white man that owns black players. He buys, sells, trades black players for stronger, faster ones to suit himself and makes millions off of them. NFL players disrespect their fans. No respect for the ones paying to watch. If the NFL owns you, watch away.
Or, get a hobby, work 2 or 3 hours at time on an old rusty truck or any piece of junk. Make it useful or purposeful and enjoyable again. I don't watch myself, NFL doesn't own me. You will suffer zero consequences for not watching.

Always a good choice Ron. Same here with me. Ratings again down this past weekend. If what I have been hearing from a good number of folks here and many more on the radio the past two days the ratings will fall hard this upcoming weekend or starting this Thursday. The one thing that is universally ( at least earthly ) understood is dollars.

F them all, they are thereto play a game and entertain people, leave their protests at the door and entertain. I don't watch football, and definitely won't ever again. All started about black oppression, by a black multi-millionaire, raised by white parents because his momma was a Crack-ho and he didn't know his babydaddy, playing in a business that is almost 70% black millionaires. I see a bunch of white oppression in pro sports. The black race covers about 13% of the US population, we need affirmative action in pro sports, take the racism and oppression out of it. Each team should be 13% black, 62% white, 16% Hispanic 7% Asian and the rest "others". I guess we need to make room for some of the gender folks in there too to make it fair.

It seems most here believe the protesting is about rich Black football players. It also seems most here say they don't watch football and now they won't watch football.

There's no shortage of information out there, but it matters not. In reference to this "Protest", there could be a train load of information out there. I'll admit, I don't really care about the why. Doesn't matter to me who it is or what their issue is. If you disrespect our/my flag, you can kiss my ass. Too many people have sacrificed everything to protect what that flag stands for. To disrespect that flag is (as I have previously stated) like pissing on every veteran's grave. Doesn't matter to me who or what you are. Yes, I am (or was) a KC Chiefs fan, I have rarely missed a chance to watch them play. I started watching the first game of this season and changed the channel when a Chief's player did not stand for the National Anthem. Screw him and every one else who does such a reprehensible act. I suppose if you want to see racism in what I've posted, then so be it. I can't change your perspective.

OH BULLSHIT, When the National Anthem is played, one stands and faces the flag. Kneeling and putting your face down is what? Praying to the fertilizer used on the field? Edited: Play word games all you want. This "Protest" will only drive a deeper wedge in a UNITED nation and based on what we've all observed will not reduce any tension. I'm not about to suggest this nation is perfect but, when one chooses to piss on the graves of those who have served, don't expect to get any respect.

When the Anthem is played or sung it is not always accompanied with the flying of the flag. I am not defending what they are doing. I am trying to keep the facts straight. I think their protests are ill conceived. But I also think they are not pissing on anyone's graves. They are kneeling during the anthem in a protest. As I said earlier, ill conceived.

So, you must be assuming that our national standard is not present during the anthem at an NFL game? Give me a frick'n break................ I believe (keeping the facts straight) that the vast majority of these protests have occurred at NFL games. Feel free to correct me if these professional athletes (entertainers) are doing it somewhere else. Would that also be the same stadiums that have military fly overs and honor guards presenting the national colors? Just want to make sure I have it right. No flags were present and, the national anthem was played just for shucks and grins.

Even more than the method, I question the motive.
I for one am old enough (barely) to remember when someone had a dream. A dream that people would be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.
Does anyone really believe a colorblind society is the motive of these kneelers? In their sad little world everything is about race.
It seems to me their motive is to divide America into as many fractured groups as possible. To give lip service to the man mentioned above while encouraging and achieving exactly the opposite. To talk about freedom while disrespecting our country and promoting racial division. It has been said many times that America can only be destroyed from within. Looks like someone was listening.

Racism in this country was nearly dead and gone until Obama (pbuh) and his ilk brought it back to life.
Right All the racists just packed up and changed their ways till Obama made them bring it back.

It's their right to kneel, stay in the locker room, or lock arms. As an NFL fan for 50 years, it's my right to turn off the television. I golfed last Sunday with my daughter and son in law, instead of watching football. It didn't suck......I can find things to do!

Serk, for a smart guy like you to make a statement like that....are you under duress or just trying to be funny? I was 100% serious, and that wasn't an idly made comment. Racism had mostly been obliterated in this country until Obama and his administration did everything in their power to rip off the old scabs and pour lemon juice into the wounds, trying to stir up as much racial strife and animosity as possible. And he was quite successful at that. It's an old tactic. Create an "Us vs. them" so you have something for your voting bloc to rally around.

Racism in this country was nearly dead and gone until Obama (pbuh) and his ilk brought it back to life.
Words escape me, very disappointing.

Please do that more often, Serk. Obliterated may be a bit strong but by comparison you certainly are correct.

Brian, Put me on the NOT disappointed side. There has always been and will always be an undercurrent of racism in this country, but O'bummer made sure it was brought back into the mainstream of politics. Very Disappointing.

Pray tell, how would one quantify the level of an abstract concept such as the level of racism in America?

LOL....WOW....you've got all the answers, man. And the "Crack-ho and babydaddy" line? Really? Nah, no racism here folks, just move along. Nothing to see here. There really IS an issue here and with this one, the other side finally has the "higher" ground on which to stand, and then you get a reply like this and it negates the whole damn thing.

Hmm, I'm not sure how to quantify such things. One would have to assume we're talking about racially motivated crimes. There is a lot of violence out there. Does one need to count crimes only between differing races? If I and Carl were to get into a discussion about race and it came to blows, would that still qualify as a racial issue. We're both white. Although I contend that I'm much better looking.......... Motomama doesn't seem to agree though.
