Not a valkyrie, still need help. Fork bolt.

Ok, I bought my wife a 86 Shadow VT500 for a learner bike. It had a pretty terrible fork seal leak and it's doused the brakes. I've got new brake pads and cleaned the rotor. I've pulled the forks off but I cannot get the bottom allen bolt to turn loose of the internals of the fork. Both sides, the bolt spins and spins. I've tried manual loosening, tried sticking a tapered broom stick down the fork, hit it with an impact gun, everything I've ever known to work.

Anybody got any other tips to get this thing to loosen up or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and have a stealership do it?

iv'e rebuilt those forks before..and trust me your not going to get them apart using hand tools unless your the bionic man and can spin them really fast. the internal nut spins too so you either need an air ratchet, or an electric impact gun..same goes for putting them back togather.

i've got an air ratchet. I've tried a 1/2" impact, and it wasn't fast enough I guess. Lemme get the ratchet on it and see what happens.

If it's like the Valk or Wing forks, I usually put the spring and cap back together to get the bolt out.  They hold enough pressure to keep the internals from spinning.
