This is the only forum I've ever been on, so it is entirely possible I don't understand how these things work. I've thought that when a topic was put out here it was then open for members to discuss. I have been guilty many times of hijacking a thread off into a tangent. I understand I am wrong in doing this and have tried to curb it. But it brought to my attention that a thread that was started by a member was their possession. If so I need to adjust my responses. Any clarification on this is appreciated.

I don't know about thread ownership, but it is polite to stick to the thread subject.

I also have often drifted off topic, but I tend to wait for the thread to pretty well run it's course before doing so.  I think this is polite enough, on drifts.

Also, I think many drifts are common sense and not that far off base.  IE, it starts with a discussion of brake pads, but morphs to fluid, maintenance, assembly, etc.  I think most drifts are still in the thread title ball park (if not right on 1st base).

Ownership?  I don't think so.

If someone gets their panties in a bunch over a thread topic hijack, they can always bring it back.

Besides, sometimes the side topics are more interesting.

Mine have taken off at a tangent and I've taken another thread off at a tangent and I've had some responses removed entirely. I make attempts at being nice-I don't succeed as often as I feel I need too!  2funny RIDE SAFE.
