Anybody use Roku TV? They want one time $70 to "set up" 200 free channels, after you buy a $59 gizmo that hooks to TV and stream via Wi-Fi.

I have one I used for a few months but couldn't get use to it so it is never used anymore. Might be a good deal if I got 200 free channels. I could do away with cable. Migjthave to look into it more.

Like Britman I have Roku, Netflix and rabbit ears for local. I bought a Roku stick for a few bucks and pay like 8 bucks a month for Netflix.

Thanks, kind of wondering what the 200 channels would look like, no list I could find. Cable has been down for a few months, they keep sending bills and threatening to disconnect me. Don't know that I would watch Netflix, I like old classics like TCM. With long cold nights on the way, I'll be looking for something to watch. I made a porch antenna out of a couple wire sign stands and a 2x4. Get 5 channels, but just out of reach (65 mi.) of any big city or I could get a lot more. Weaned from cable, I know that.

Don't pay someone to hook it up. It's super easy. They are really cool.

$10 they put the price up do not forget the sales tax on that 10 bucks per month with Netflix.... You have to have decent high speed internet to do netflix, roku, etc. via wi-fi. Unfortunately, my 5 megs at most is not ideal for streaming movies/channels all the time works sometimes and buffers other times. We have netflix but if on netflix and 3 others on internet, it doesn't always work netflix smoothly. I can deal with 30-50 bucks per month for TV, but dish/directtv thinks their 80-100 dollar packages is cheap - I say it is CRAZY INSANE and UNREAL pricy..... I get all these 200+ channels and 185 of them are junk only watch like 15-20 channels tops out of all of them. If I could pick say 20 channels for 2 bucks each, would be ideal.

I tried Roku but moved on to this device. You do need a fast DSL or internet connection. It would work but would buffer a lot when I had 3 mb connection. Went to 10 mb, worked much better. Had the good fortune of our local phone co. installing a higher speed up to 25 mb and it works much better. Mostly use it for movies, watch a lot of new 2017 movies. Sometimes have to watch in Standard Definition SD which is not the best quality. But I usually wait a few months to watch them in 720P or 1080p. Seems to take a while for the newest ones to get the better quality. You can add Sling TV on the device and you pay Sling each month. Otherwise the intial price is all you ever pay. The feed out of the little box is HDMI so you need separate HDMI ports on your TV and usually your TV remote will have a source button to switch between ports. It will operate on your wifi but seems a bit faster if you run an ethernet cable direct from your router. https://www.skystreamx.com/

We also found ROKU unusable with slow DSL, but a Firestick functions OK...

I went to the set up deal and they clocked my speed at 1080 and pic looked good. That's when a roku chat deal opened and ask if they could help set up. Then they wanted I think $69 one time to get me 200 free channels. I suspect at least 185 junk channels like cookiedough mentioned. Didn't know if I'm better off just picking a few of my own or if it is even an option, then pay for Netflix. I have the box thingy now so tonight I'm going to hook up.

If I can set up ROKU you can set up ROKU. Follow instructions and be patient.

I get charged 13.99 every month for Netflix. I have the 4 tv and HD. Have never seen it add sales tax.
