In 2016 the NFL prevented the Dallas Cowboys from wearing a decal on their helmet in honor of five Dallas Police officers killed in the line of duty.

In 2016 the NFL threatened to fine players who wanted to wear cleats to commemorate the 15th anniversary of 9/11.

In this case, the "polls" seem to be somewhat accurate, Johnson (owner of the Cowboys) is now saying his Cowboys will stand for the national anthem or sit on the bench.

The "polls" are an indication of how much money the NFL is losing and of NFL sponsors/advertising not being seen.    Whether it's patriotic or financial, the polls seem to be making a difference.

The one thing this protest has taught me is, I don't need the NFL, used to watch a bunch of games, have found that I don't miss it and their advertisers apparently don't miss me.   

It's all good, they can protest whatever they want and I don't have to watch it.   Haven't watched a game since the first one of the season when I turned the channel once I saw the protest.    I agree with the President to a certain extent and if the owners won't address the situation then, I hope the NFL and it's players go broke in the process.

Amen, 50+ year Packers fan, stockowner, etc. start of the 3rd week 3 I see Green & Gold clowns sitting during the anthem and turn it off. Next day the team president and head coach say they "support the players". Haven't seen another game, getting used to no football. May still watch the super bowl though, because that's the game that always has viewers that only care about the commercials, parties, food, and if the score matches the expensive square(s) they bought in the pool. Kind of like watching the Kentucky Derby. I don't know the names of any of the horses, would be just as happy if it was a one-lap go kart race, love the party.

Hard to say, HRC was leading in all the polls they said..................
Doesn't really matter to me at this point, I haven't and won't watch another NFL game until this BS stops.   What's interesting is, I've figured out that, I don't need to watch so, regardless of what they do, I may never come back.   I've also noted who buys advertising supporting the NFL and have let many of them know that  will not be buying their products and why.

There are contracts drawn up that were done awhile ago so when they say that they are still in the top spots its not necessarily that the numbers are not down it just means they are going along in the old route until they cannot anymore hoping to ride this thing out.

Polls, surveys, CNN all predicted a different outcome at election time, so really what are they worth? I have seen the stands 2/3 empty that is the only real poll that matters. That would go along with the opening thread saying the numbers are down.

As for individual expression and making a difference, do you remember how this all started with one person kneeling and now we are dealing with this, so never say that your expression of protest does not matter. Since you feel that way many others do also so they will join in that is how we got a real president elected.

The tactic of the other side is to say that its not affecting them so people will get discouraged and give up.

My convictions are, the game will be on, lots of good food laid out, old friends I may not have seen in months will be there, I'll have a $100 square to make me look at the score once in a while. The same number of Nielson Rating TVs will be tuned to the game whether I look at it or not. I have never watched an NBA game in my 62 years on the planet, but I don't refuse to go places where there's a bassaball game on the screen.

I can and will assure you, I won't be watching the SB.   Haven't missed one since the first and wouldn't miss this one but, I won't even tune in that show.   I would watch the opening but the networks are no longer showing the players during the anthem so, one doesn't know until later.   Therefore, I no longer tune in.

Wx is currently a bit of an issue but, that really doesn't matter.   Not much of a NASCAR fan or any other racing.    Gets boring and I end up sleeping in my Lazy Boy chair.   Have been to a couple KY Speedway races, the stands were pretty full but, I really wasn't looking.   Way too many people there for me to enjoy the experience.   Reference the NFL television/advertising money.   Doing what I can to send a different message.
