Recounting Recent Memories….
So, what’s to write about…? I feel the urge, but I lack the inspiration… I have been on the road lately… Rode out to Lake Charles, LA, for JP’s wedding… had an interesting time, but I’ve already written about that.
Following that event, I rode with Gig & Lulu to Natchez, MS, where we split up. They rode on, while I got a room! The heat had me wilting like a three-day old prom corsage… so I found some A/C and let them ride on without me… Once I cooled down, I decided to head over to Montgomery, AL, to visit with some friends…
Napper and I did go out a couple of times, and we met-up with some other pals. That was a few days before my actual birthday, but it naturally produced just enough of a legitimate excuse for some jolly celebration… in the form of shots… Cuz is right fond of those mini sips of liquid thunder from an oversized glass thimble… so…
They kept appearing in front of me, too! I’d no sooner get rid of one, then another would find its way into the ‘Red Zone’ to taunt and tempt this usually more sensible rider. It took a while before I figured out there was a direct connection between the disappearance of one and the appearance of its replacement… This delayed recognition, of course, led to what I call “The Bama Two-Step”.
This is not a dance, per se, but it sort of resembles one, particularly if compared with yours truly actually trying to dance to music. Any way, it begins with slowly, awkwardly standing, then two almost falling steps to the left, followed by two similar stumbles to the right, then one faltering step forward. Occasionally one or two half-step staggers backwards have been observed, and those do count for extra ‘style’ points. No points are taken off for lack of grace or coordination, but extra points can be scored if the ‘dancer’ can do all this unassisted… By the time we left, I had an embarrassing score!
I departed Bama one fine morning when my head had finally cleared, and I rode half way to Nohead City, NC, and the annual birthday bash my cousin/brother and I do every year around our birthdays, which are eleven days apart. But, I’ve posted a story about that, too. Now what? Well, there is the FCR. I’ve already mentioned the ride over and the lack of sleep the night before… Oh well, perhaps something will occur to me in time… Is it possible my recollector muscle took a dump and all my memories of that are gone…? Time will tell…
