Lighter, less couch-y, better for city commuting, power windshield, more engine and exhaust showing...I like it. A new front suspension is risky but the old fork wasn’t exactly a strong point.
Could handle a little less techie stuff, but the good thing about going to the big screen is it gets rid of about 400 buttons. Wish they’d have kept the ability to use wired headsets. I know most have moved to Bluetooth but I like the simplicity of wired.
I’ve been shopping for a GW for a few months now. The 15, 16, and 17’s are holding their value so well, it hardly makes sense to buy one of them, makes more sense to get an 18, full warranty, lighter weight, etc.
If I can’t find a low mile, we’ll maintained 06+, I’ll likely get a new one. I’m thinking the base Goldwing(I like the grey) with a rear box and centre stand and taller windshield added. The base wing doesn’t have heated seats, electronic suspension adjustment, but that’s fine with me.

Hope so. We’ll see. I like that the new wing looks like a cross between an FJR and the old wing. I was wishing there was something in between and that’s kinda what the new one is.

gee I wonder if my local Honda dealer in southern WI will allow demo rides here in February if the roads are clear enough for a go at it? guessing not, will try one out for craps and giggles for not shelling out 27K. I drove the Valk home tonight at 10 p.m. in 38 degree temps so might be same temp in February? BRRR cold... At least it will have heated grips and heated seat and taller windshield and more wind protection assuming than my 2001 valk i/s? might not even have to shift gears if go with an automatic. On 2nd thought, the local Honda dealer will probably not allow anyone since have asked to drive a crotch rocket and the a-holes do NOT allow test rides on ANY crotch rocket for liability reasons which is B.S. I asked how would I know if I wanted to buy it then if no test ride? They said they offer a 3 day no hastle return policy if do not like it within those 3 days just bring it back getting full money back then. Wow, what a deal?? I also find it weird that their parts dept. is not overinflated on pricing for parts if needed have bought 3 small items from them cheaper than the other 3 honda dealers, but when it comes to their service dept. is a laughing joke near double the price for pretty much anything cycle related makes we wonder what idiots would even pay double for something any Honda dealer could do for near 1/2 price.

I love the new Goldwing, not so much for the Tour model. But if I was going to drop $30 Large on a bike (I am not). The deal would be dead because it does not have BMW's (12 or 1600) or KTM's (bought the Super Duke GT) or Ducati's (looked at X Diavel S) level of sophistication of their ABS or MTC (motorcycle traction control) that take the lean of the motorcycle into consideration...to me a DEAL BREAKER
Other than that I think Honda killed it with the new bike. The Tour for the old guys who are looking for that and the Goldwing for the sportier minded rider of the Valk guy demographic

It does have traction control. Called HSTC. As far as the ABS " "The electronically controlled combined ABS works in a way that optimally distributes braking force to the front and rear wheels. There is also a weight savings, because whereas the ABS was operated by two motors on the previous model, the new system is operated by one smaller, lighter, circulation-type ABS modulator that has been integrated with the brake ECU. Total weight savings for the overall system is 2.9 lbs. (1.3 kg). On the latest Gold Wing, the combined ABS settings are linked with the riding modes to automatically adjust to braking characteristics ideal for the riding situation.

I should have said cornering abs, I believe it is by Bosch. KTM, BMW and Ducati have it and Honda does not...and if they do, they need to bring more attention to it. A video explaining it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHRWg91hv-M

Honda was a leader.
Then they became a day late and a dollar short.
I think they are now years late and thousands of dollar short.
There are several bikes out there that are a better bike for the money. I think Honda makes a good product and I own several.
