D00ds! Y'all have fun... I've been fighting ringing ears and diminished equilibrium since a couple of weeks before the Fall Color Ride. I self-diagnosed myself with tinnitus from playing guitar on Thursday nights lately - standing next to a Leslie speaker and in front of the drummer Tinnitus doesn't get better I just got back from the ENT dr. - my ears are perfect (not just for a 60 yo, but for a 12 yo - no tinnitus) ... My problem is (I hope the dr. is right) allergy run amok. Within a week (instead of never) my ears will probably stop ringing - he prescribed some steroids and I have to take Claritin every day - if he is right my problem should subside... Anywho - I had already quit going to practice on Thursday nights, and the ringing and equilibrium issue was affecting my riding too. Here's hoping I'll be back to playing pentatonic nonsense and going on many more rides real soon... Y'all don't tear up nothing! -Mike

I use "google sites" - a free service that everyone with a google userid has access to. I think it blows all the other picture sites away. I don't use it to make web pages, just to store pictures, in a way that is very organized... here's how the one I'm using now is organized: https://sites.google.com/site/hubcapsite3/Whenever one fills up, I just up the number and make another one. -Mike

Here's hoping I'll be back to playing pentatonic nonsense and going on many more rides real soon... Y'all don't tear up nothing! -Mike Hey Mike, I thought I'd just share my experience from this past Spring. I didn't get tinnitus (which I have intermittently all the time, and right now), rather I got some mild pain in my neck/throat, which was no big deal, but unlike many aches and pains us older folks get, it didn't go away after a week, ten days. That bothered me more than the mild pain/irritation. So I made an appointment with an ENT outfit. And after my exam, he told me it was allergy. I've never had allergy my whole life. I mean, sure if I sniffed up all the dust bunnies under the bed, I'd sneeze my head off, but that's not a allergy, just dust up the nose. So he prescribed me OTC steroid and Claritan (or something like it), which I used for a few days, without much change. It finally cleared up about the same time all the oak pollen stopped falling (and which I blow up in big piles with my Stihl blower every spring). It's pretty strange to be told you have allergy in your 60s, when you never had any your whole life. I suppose it is the old immune system wearing out. I've had no recurrence since, so we'll see what happens next Spring. Hope you feel better. Or quieter. My intermittent tinnitus has been going on for so long, I just ignore it. It's not particularly loud most of the time. It makes me feel like I have an old radio vacuum tube in my head that just whines at high pitch from time to time. (On the other hand, my hearing is really great)

Different water different food etc etc. THEN bout 2 or 3 years into my retirement-8 years retired Feb 18 and I turn 73-doc tells me I have "allergies"! And I asked her-where in the hell ZACKLY did they come from? And her answer you ask? Said they are age related! I guess you Don't WANT allergies don't git old? RIDE SAFE.

Yeah Dennis, I'm not sure I believed my diagnosis. Here's the $90 question: Is it even possible to go to an ENT allergy specialist, and not get a diagnosis of allergy? On the other hand, if you live long enough, even death is age related. BTW, I hit 8 yrs of blissful, lazy retirement next May. Best job I ever had! (though the pay kinda sucks)

I'm still playing classic rock like I have for years. We still play 3x a month and my ears always ring. I stand left center in front of my drummer and have a lead/ rythum gutar player on my rt. I always thought my left ear, my drum side would go to hell, but I was wrong. My guitar side is about half. I wear musician ear plugs and that is saving what hearing I have left. You don't know how much is gone until they put hearing aids in. Protect what you have!!! As for a ride here, I have snow on my truck right now.

Protect what you have!Hear Hear! I always wear hearing protection, not just playing, but using power tools or chains saws or... I hope to start going back to Thursday night jams, but I'm not standing in front of the Leslie and the drums anymore... and I'm thinking of changing over to shooting ear muffs instead of plugs...
