I took up hang gliding at the age of forty for several years. It was evident to me that my coordination was much less than it was 20 years earlier. I regretted I was really insufficient in physical acumen and was headed for disaster. Very aware of my loss of skills and ability I had earlier. Kind of regretted I didn't pursue it further in my 20's when I looked into it in the 70's, near Tucson. But back then the wings were much more primitive, divergent Rogallo wings. Guys were getting killed a lot. I gave it up in 92 after I was hurt several times and some friends in my club were killed. They were better pilots - higher rated - than me, and killed on one of my favorite sites. Really through no fault of their own but from conditions. Decided it was unfair to my family, I should take up something safer. Motorcycles.
I flew with a camcorder on my keel. So I could study my mistakes and gain maximum learning from them. Also so I could take others along from the back seat as it were. Particularly my dad who had to give up his private pilots license due to his heart. I posted a couple of them on youtube. Both sled rides. One was picked up by Right This Minute the day after I posted it. Crash on Lookout Mountain in Golden CO. That's the Coors brewery between N & S Table Mesas.
