“What’s the worst thing that could happen?” “I dunno, fall off, skin my knee?” “So, that’s not so bad, go for it.” “This is a sports burger. Dave Mirra, Travis Pastrana, and Mike Larocco all eat these.” “Life is full of choices. Make the good ones have a good life. Make the bad ones have a bad life.” “Dad? Can we go in your room and have a ‘man talk’?” My Dad. He has yet to steer me wrong. He has yet to let me down. He has always been there when I have needed him most. He’s not the kind of dad to show compassion in the way that you think he would. He isn’t the kind of dad to hug you, or tell you he loves you, misses you, or cares about you. He shows it. With every action he takes he shows it to me day after day after day how much he cares for not only me as his son, but his entire family. A thump on the back of the head is a gift from him, it’s his way of saying “Hey, you’re alright ya know?” The times we’ve shared, the laughs we’ve had, and the trips we’ve taken are all so close to my heart. He has been an incredible father to me throughout my 22 years of life. I haven’t always been the best of listeners when it comes to his advice, but he continues to give it willingly. I remember when I walked around the corner into the front living room of the house and there sat a 50cc Honda dirt bike. Gear all laid out on the floor. I was 5. Dad just stood there with the biggest grin seeing his only son; flabbergasted at the fact that there was his very own dirt bike in the living room. I was so small! He had to hold me up so I could take off, and grab the forks to catch me when I stopped cause I couldn’t touch the ground. He was there after working long days to load my bike and take me to the track to practice. On the weekend pee-wee races that I know for a fact he was more into them than I was at the time. I think back on these times and wonder how come I couldn’t have been more supportive of him supporting me? Nothings changed. He’s still 100% here for me every step of my way. People have told me my whole life that I wouldn’t have full respect for my father until I was older. They never said what age, and I’m beginning to realize that I’m a little more aware of how much he loves and cares for me each passing year, and with that my respect for him grows. Prairie dog hunting with Dad and Grandpa in the Jeep Cherokee out in the middle of nowhere east Colorado in the hot sun... Back then I couldn’t WAIT to get home and do what? Eat? Watch tv? I took those moments, those golden moments with him for granted. It was hot, I was tired, all the “kid” excuses in the book. You know what my Dad did? He smiled. He was out with his only son shooting these rodents with a gun. It was the time he had looked forward to when I was first born. He couldn’t wait to get me a motorcycle, a gun, a bicycle, a guitar, a music lesson, to see me perform, to ride to InZane with me, to work on the Valk with me, to bond, to be my friend, to have a friend in his son. It’s each year that I look back harder and wonder how come I couldn’t have been there for him like he’s been there for me? I couldn’t ask for a better up bringing. I was and still am so privileged with a wonderful set of parents who stick their necks out for their children. I am so thrilled that I have my Dad to ride cross country with on motorcycles. To have a Dad that supports me and my passion for music. To have a Dad that enjoys my company and spending time with me. To have a Dad that is present in my life. To have a Dad that loves me, cares for me, and will always be there for me. To have a Dad that shows me so much respect even when I least deserve it. I have so much respect for my Father, so much love, and so much appreciation for him and the sacrifices he’s made for me and the rest of his family. I am so proud of the work he has achieved. He’s a great man. He’s my Dad, and I can’t show, write or tell you all how much love I hold for him. It’s unfathomable. Happy Birthday, Dad.

Chase, Dave said it quite well! Reading your post is a wonderful way to begin a new day on a very positive note! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on a very good person... While your words are as sincere as they are accurate, the testimonies of the conduct of your life and those of your siblings are the best measure of that man's capacity for love and skill at parenting. Those of us who know him enjoy seeing such well-deserved recognition and praise presented... knowing you adds to the deeper meaning of your words. Thanks!!! Happy birthday, Damon!!! DDT

Troutdude is staying at his sister's place, where he is helping her recover from surgery this week... He doesn't have the ability to post anything on our board while there; so, he's asked me to express his wish for a happy birthday for Damon... Happy birthday, Damon!!! ... from Dennis...
