http://www.breitbart.com/california/2017/12/13/californias-war-on-guns-broadens-to-a-war-on-ammunition-beginning-january-1-2018/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social

California’s war on guns will soon broaden to a war on ammunition as a ban on the possession of bullets purchased out-of-state takes effect January 1, 2018.

Then, in 2019, all ammunition purchasers will be required to undergo a background check like those currently required for firearm sales. That background check will require the law-abiding citizen to “pay a $1 state fee” for the check. That “fee” is yet another tax.

This is one of many steps going into effect which will quickly place ammunition under controls similar to those which Democrat lawmakers have placed on firearms.

According to the Sacramento Bee, it will also be illegal “to transfer or buy ammo” from anyone other than a licensed dealer within the state, beginning January 1. California residents can order ammunition from a catalog as long as they have that ammunition shipped to a licensed dealer for pickup. The dealer will then add a “processing fee” to the cost of the ammunition.

In this scenario, a “processing fee” is just another tax that law-abiding citizens will pay for the bullets they buy.

Then, in 2019, all ammunition purchasers will be required to undergo a background check like those currently required for firearm sales. That background check will require the law-abiding citizen to “pay a $1 state fee” for the check. That “fee” is yet another tax.

This is how gun control or, in this case, ammunition control, works. First. they limit the supply by passing a law that it is only legal to possess ammunition purchased in California. Then they pass a law narrowing options even further, so that it is only legal to purchase in-state ammunition from a licensed dealer. Then they apply a tax but call it a “processing fee.” And in 2019 they will apply another tax of $1 to help cover the cost of a point of sale background check for law-abiding ammunition purchasers.

That Gnarly old retired female Sargent I ride P G R with sent me a bunch of stuff somewhat politically motivated. One of em was-in private ownership here in America there are about 350 million weapons and maybe one trillion rounds of ammunition available to us. IF private ownership Was in Fact the problem-believe you me you Would KNOW all about it. Throwin more regulations at a problem that May exist in what they pass off for a mind but which in fact "they"-whoever in hell "they" are-helped create in the first place. Maybe "they" might want to sit down and READ the Constitution Of The U S of A. And to think I Almost gave serious consideration to employment in kalafornia!  uglystupid2 BUT I DUZ live in Missouri for many reasons. My personal Rights appear to be somewhat better protected.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

How do they know if ammo is purchased outside of the state? Another reason I'll never spend a dime in California.  Even if I order something I make sure it is not coming from California.

I'm guessing in part it's to stop out of state shipments which CA doesn't get sales tax on?

Normally I say the difference between a yankee and a cursed yankee is that a yankee comes to visit, a cursed yankee comes and stays, but I'm pretty sure we've got enough citizens of The Republic that would vouch for your character that we could get a waiver in place for you to be allowed honorary citizenship...

I am guessing that they are trying to force conservative gun owners to move out of the state

A lot of 'em are coming here to The Republic... I don't mind California refugees that remember why they had to flee their failed state, it's the ones that come here and try to implement the same failed policies that doomed California that I wish we could keep out...

Another exercise in futility by KA governmant.
They have absolutely no hope of ever being able to control the flow of ammunition (or firearms).

Another un-enforce-able law passed by another dumb bunch of politicians.

Voters in KA really need to smarten up.

Yeah, Austin is sadly a lost cause at this point.  When we go our own way, the general consensus is we'll build a wall around Austin and cede it to Californistan.

At one time I wanted to ride through all 48 lower states. Kalifornia and similar states are the biggest reason I changed my mind. I really hope Kalifornia votes to leave the union. I'm sorry for those of you that live there but it is what it is.

Sometimes a fox or coyote will chew it's own foot off to get out of a trap. I think it's time for America to do the same now so we don't have to reformat the wall later. By the way, Texas ain't the only freedom loving state.  Smiley

Why don't they just make crime illegal and throw all their criminals in prison?? Instead of letting them skate repeatedly to prey on the citizens again and again and again?? Instead of taking away the non-criminals ways of protecting themselves.

I'll bet if a three time loser, convicted felon, illegal alien, in Kommiefornia, someplace like LA. Broke into a house with a stolen gun, and was confronted by the homeowner, a legal, non-felon, productive member of society, who jumped through all the hoops to get his legally acquired firearm, and they both shot each other. The legal, law abiding person would go broke paying out of pocket for his bail so he didn't sit in jail awaiting charges, paying out of pocket for his own attorneys to defend himself, while his case dragged on and on, and would also get more jail time than that the illegal alien felon, along with getting whatever legally acquired weapons confiscated forever. While the illegal alien felon would sit in jail with his buddies, hanging out, playing cards and games, watching TV, smoking dope and getting 3 meals a day and some free medical and dental care got done while he waits for his speedy trial, with a free court appointed lawyer who pleads everything down to another minor charge and gets time served, going back onto the streets to prey again on the legal law abiding citizens. He will also sue the homeowner who shot him and probably win.

phideux, I think you have a great solution: since the three time loser convicted illegal alien felon sits in jail with his buddies smoking dope, maybe we should give them all the dope they want in jail so they could just stay there. Instead of early release to go and prey on legal law abiding citizens. Maybe liberal Kommiefornia would be agreeable to more dope in prisons.

I just checked a bunch of places online.  Didn't find a widespread cost reduction on .500mag.  Did see some good pricing at laxammo though not on brands I shoot.  My local preferred shop won't stock them as his margins are too small to be worth it. After I get in enough brass & dies and the rest I expect to start reloading. Where you shopping?

Well even though dope was illegal you could still get it in prison. Now that it is legal out there it should be way easier to get it in prison.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017/06/15/inmates-increasingly-look-drones-smuggle-contraband-into-their-cells/102864854/

While large companies like Amazon test drone delivery systems, inmates in jails across the country are already using the devices to receive their own aerial shipments: smuggled contraband.

Documents obtained from the Justice Department by USA TODAY through a Freedom of Information Act request uncovered more than a dozen attempts to transport contraband - including mobile phones, drugs and porn - into federal prisons in the past five years. State facilities have also reported similar incidents.

Experts say current anti-drone technologies fail to protect jails against the unmanned aerial devices that transport dangerous items, including firearms, which are almost impossible to sneak in via traditional prison smuggling methods.

Have to admit I didn't stop in town.  Great roads for sure.  The first time I drove over the Kerrville Pass was in Granddads 3100 Chevy pick-up.  At 14 it was a little scary.
