Yep, looks like fun but, there ain't no way I'm going out there. Found out that I'm allergic to those four letter words. SNOW and COLD are both four letter words ya know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FYwfWjMZwhABut, it does look like a lot of fun. Rams

How cool is this when you are a kid. Heck I would still do it. Same type of sled I had as a kid ( some had saucers ) taking it down the road to what we called the sand hill where the neighborhood kids would gather between the Holidays and on Winter weekends. Being in Central Michigan the runs were nothing like this, only a few hundred feet.
With a few days left before Jan 2, I had wanted to go skiing at Mad River Mtn. ( really a glorified Hill ) about 10 miles from the Valkyrie MMC Plant, but man with temps struggling to get past 10 degrees for this extended period my cold allergy has also kicked in.

Thanks for the post and the memories Of course when we were kids, no goggles or helmets and wore blue jeans and not snow pants That was a helluva hill there We still have the flexible flyer hanging on the wall next to the Valkyrie and a few of the plastic sleds in the basement. Great fun.

Brings back some great memories of my youth, we had a really mean hill in a park a couple blocks from the house that was a regular dare for most of us. Was about a block long with about a 10ft. high set of stairs at the bottom so when you went off that you were airborne. Only did that once, thought I had damaged the boys permanently after landing. My buddies were rolling on the ground laughing at me in my anguish. I'll never forget my former wife when she tried to demonstrate to our girls how to run, throw the sled down and belly flop onto it for the ride. She threw the sled down but forgot you're supposed to hang on to it while doing the flop. She landed on her belly on the hard pack snow and knocked the wind out of herself while the sled continued on for a couple more blocks without her. Our little girls looked at her and in a serious tone told her that didn't look like much fun.

nothing beats an old school metal runner sled with wood platform and steering in front. EVERY single time I would race anyone down the street hill by our school as a kid and every single time I would smoke them down that 100 yard road by the school until the cops come by and tell us we can not sled on a main road which we did anyways after he left. I also got pretty good with a larger heavy duty plastic sled laying on it steering with my hands (with gloves on of course). Now I try it and have to use boat cushions since my tummy can no longer stand the bouncing around. Arthritis is also setting in some.
I still have all those sleds at my moms house even that old metal runner sled with wood platform and hard to imagine how small it is now as an adult how I ever fit on it as a kid even.

Well, then it wouldn't be much different than riding our motorcycles on some of the twisties we love. Don't even have to cross the double yellow line for that to be a threat.

Being from Atlanta that is an experience I have never had. Looks like a lot of fun. I would like to know what kind of camera he had. One heck of a steady shot feature in it. His head and the sleigh were pounding and the video was rock steady.....

I think this is more in line with what us older valk riders would enjoy now... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D1c6W8xbF_sI wonder if an old Valk can do a wheelie that high on powdered snow? I do have an old 1983 V65 magna to convert that has enough power to easily do a wheelie. hmmm.. Problem with that is there is hardly ever enough snow even in southern WI to make it worthwhile to do and is not powder, but usually ice.

nowadays when my kids were little we would, before the village plows the roads, take the ATV with a long 50 foot rope and pull the kids on plastic sleds with boat cushions up/down our roads in town. That is until the cops come and tell us to stop it...... they enjoyed it a lot even doing 10 mph to be safe when little under say 8 years old. that long sled hill in that video would still be up my alley today to do way fun. Just would NEVER walk back up to do it again needing a ride up there.
