I recently sold my 1500 and started to look at the add ons that I had. It dawned on me how much of my bike was from creative small vendors and lovers of the Valkyrie that had gone on to other things.

Most of the stuff that was on my 1500 could not be replaced today since those vendors really aren't around anymore. Even how much of what was on my bike I had changed out or personally made to change the function or look of the bike. I think this is what really made me realize out of all the bikes that some own its not only about the bike itself but what we turn it into that makes the bike mean something.

While the base 1500 was an awesome bike it was not untlll you put bags on a fairing or personalized it that it became the magnificent beast it is. The interstate came with some of the bells and whistles and is a beautiful bike that less modification was required to make it your own.

The Valk not being made anymore either is not the cause, I think most is the changing time of motorcycles and the economy that is changing. Its the creative and fabricating talent that is not as prevalent of the younger generation either. Most of the gear heads are the older generation that if you didn't have the money you pieced it together to make it run or you walked.
