A New Years Eve... something different

Definitely a unique New Years Eve this year. Going into our 3rd evening without power after some wicked ice storms knocked out power lines just down the road from our little spot up here on the mountain. Minding the small generator we have powering the fridge and keeping warm with ski jackets and our favorite liqueurs before joining the neighbours out on the street with a fire to ring in 2018

Sorry to hear about the cold New Year (and days without power).   

Hopefully, there is enough firewood not to burn that nice guitar (so don't do it).   

Ice storm is the worst weather we get here in NoVA too (and causes most of our power outages).

Enjoy the liquid refreshment (it's nice when everyone has their own bottle).

glad you are in good spirits literally on both sides both with liquid refreshments and emotionally as well.  Ice storms, although rare here, are the pits on power outages (we have underground electrical lines so does not happen much except at main sub-stations if power goes out for one, goes out for all so will fix ASAP).  biggie being road travel on ice is 10xs worse for me anyways than even 20 inches of snow.  I can control my vehicle in 20 inches of snow much better than 1/4" of ice.

Good cheer.  HNY!  Take care your toilets and pipes don't freeze.  My generator can run the furnace blowers and well - everything except the hot tub and water heater.  Only 5500w continuous. Very rarely needed but ice and deep snow storms can put the power out.  Generally not for days though.

My furnace crapped out on Christmas day.  Wasn't terribly cold Tuesday but in the 20's with forecasted single digits by Wed morning.  Had to install new motor and controller, but got 'em in before the real cold hit.  -6 this morning.  We should be cold until Sunday when it's up to more normal 35 or so.
