I'm guessing you're talking about weight loss, my plans also. Not a resolution for the new year, I had started this past Fall, maintained an even level over the holidays so now time to get back at it. Currently at 217+/-, depends on intake and activity but will vary a couple pounds. Would like to drop another 20 for a number of reasons, one is to get my primary care dr. off my butt about pre-diabetes issues. Glucose and HDL are the only thing he harps me about, the rest is normal. Anyway....good luck to everyone having made that promise to themselves.

Guess we're on the same bandwagon... dropped 34 lbs last fall, have played with the same 3 for the past 6 weeks, which is a huge plus for me. Maintenance is good! Loss will continue once this white stuff disappears... Dr wanted to put me on insulin, good incentive!

After Inzane in Morgantown I reached an all time high in weight, and turning 60 that Summer I was determined to get back to being in reasonable shape. I'm quite active still playing soccer and doing a lot of outdoor activities and I found the extra weight was hampering my lifestyle. Had never been on any type of diet before and was doubtful when the Mrs suggested I sign up for Weight Watchers on the mobile app. I travel a lot for work so I eat at restaurants a lot, and this plan just working off my phone worked like a charm. I reached my goal weight this past January/2017 after dropping over 30 lbs, and have maintained it to this day. I quit the program in March as it basically re-trained me to follow healthier eating habits and I've been amazed at how easy it is to maintain both my weight and eating habits on my own now. Only downside is the $$ spent on a whole new wardrobe I highly recommend this program for anyone looking to not only lose weight, but to train themselves to eat healthier and maintain their weight as well. No, I am not on a program that rewards me for getting others to sign up...I just have been so impressed with how this has worked for me and how easy it was...eat your own food whenever you want...it just converts calories into points and manages how many points you consume each day/week and also tracks "fitness" points for activities (even simple activities such as walking) each day/week. Best $20 a month I ever spent

avoid all wheat products. lbs will drop http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/http://www.wheatbellyblog.com/faqs/Why do you make the claim that removing all wheat from the diet results in weight loss? Because the studies examining this effect have demonstrated it and because I’ve seen it happen—over and over and over again. Weight is lost from the deep visceral fat that resides within the abdomen represented on the surface as “love handles,” “muffin top,” or a darned good imitation of a near-term baby, what I call a “wheat belly.” This is because wheat contains a protein (gliadin) that yields a potent appetite stimulant upon digestion. Remove it and appetite drops within days. Typically, people who say goodbye to wheat lose a pound a day for the first 10 days. Weight loss then slows to yield 25-30 pounds over the subsequent 3-6 months (differing depending on body size, quality of diet at the start, male vs. female, etc.). When you remove wheat from the diet, you’ve removed the gliadin protein unique to wheat that is degraded to morphine-like compounds that stimulates appetite, and appetite thereby drops. The average daily calorie intake drops 400 calories per day — with less hunger, less cravings, and food is more satisfying. This all occurs without imposing calorie limits, cutting fat grams, or limiting portion size. It all happens just by eliminating this thing called wheat. Dr. Davis’ powerful, contrary messages help readers avoid or even reverse many of the conditions acquired by engaging in today's nutrition mistakes. When readers are provided the genuine science underlying the “healthy whole grain” message — not the “science” that demonstrates that whole grains are superior to white flour — it becomes clear that grains have always been a problematic calorie source, with problems amplified by changes introduced by genetics manipulations and agribusiness. Cutting-edge research, for example, has revealed that consumption of modern wheat is the first step in triggering autoimmune diseases such as type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis. As powerful as wheat elimination — or even better, all grains — can be, there is more to address as part of an effort to establish ideal health.

Avoid all fad diet suggestions. Here is the most productive way to lose weight. Cut down your intake.
What I learned during my change of lifestyle is what the dietician taught me. Set a calorie intake say 2, 000 calories (normal for us older adults). Take a look at the nutrition guide on the label. If a serving size is 50 grams, eat 50 grams. Have all four group but use moderation. You will be surprised how quickly you start losing weight without denying yourself.
I lost almost 100 lbs doing the eating mod before having bariatric surgery. As of today 205 lbs lost in 3 years. No fads, plenty of good food. 2, 000 calorie diet. Steak, potatoes, vegies. Sometimes I even drink a beer.
Simple exercise. Walking. 45 minutes 4 times a week. Blood pressure is 123 / 78. Pulse 49. Again no fad diet just a change to my eating habits.

I told Bonnie I wanted to lose weight for Alana's wedding,
Well it all must have landed on the scale as I am now 235
True that cutting carbs helps, however as I walk down the aisle I keep hearing the damn ice cream calling out "oss, help me" so I buy it and you know what happens next
Started using an elliptical and a bike that I got for free, I havent started losing yet but I am sore in more places than before
Maybe that is progress
Oss
Do I hear the Valk crying that its cold in the garage?

Elliptical and I assume an indoor bike such as spinning bikes are great. Low impact on those knees and spine. Just make sure they are of good quality. A lot of cheap Chinese crap out there that breaks easily. Vaquero is absolutely right about wheat and it is probably the most calories we consume in food as it is so cheap for food companies to configure in a myriad of forms. It fills the shelves in supermarkets and convenience stores. The older we get the harder it is to keep a good weight. I wish great success to all those fighting the loosing cause.

Hmmm....the elliptical that my wife just had to have is in great shape. Well actually the grips might be a little wore from hanging clothes on them.

Same concept with the free app: myfitnesspal Works online and with a mobile app. Has a huge data base of foods including most popular restaurant dishes. Using a phone, you can scan labels to get the full nutritional information. The free version even keeps track of protein/fat/carbs total and ratio. If nothing else, the app helps you realize how many calories you eat each day and which foods are the big contributors. Can even add exercise to subtract calories. I'd like to brag about my success story, but I have been a yoyo. My goal this year is to lose 35 pounds and I have only 40 more to go.
